Bunkers need work done. Greens were aerated and slit-trenched while having insects burrowing holes
The course needed a lot more care. Bunkers were neglected for awhile since tall weeds have grown within all of them. I was not informed the greens were aerated and slit-trenched. Many greens were also infested with insects burrowing holes into them.
Greens were infested with large wasps
Several of the greens - at least 5 - were absolutely infested with cicada killers. They had dug numerous holes creating bumps and other uneven ground suitable for putting. Aside from that, trying to putt with dozens of stinging insects buzzing around is hardly pleasant or allows for an enjoyable time. The course needs to be closed until these are eradicated and the greens repaired. I am quite surprised that no one alerted me to these conditions, but even more surprised that they have remained unaddressed, because these things did not do all this damage overnight.
I definitely won't play here again - there are just too many other nice courses, even for the price I paid.
Nice Course Layout!
Enjoyed playing there, but needs some maintenance in some areas with one hole closed. However, the price was reduced which made it worth the value.
Underrated Muni
There’s a lot to love here. There’s a bit of construction ongoing, but the course has improved a lot this season. Solid pace of play (though I did get the sunrise tee time, so your mileage may vary)
Good serviceable course
This is a local public course in suburban Fairfax County that has been improved recently and regraded. It needed it, and since they have done it I move it to the good category. Amenities are sparse, does not have a range, only nets, a small shop and you can get a hot dog or sandwiches. Still, it has some water hazards and interesting holes.
Well maintained!
The Greendale greens keeping staff has done a great job improving the conditions of this course. Greens are in great shape and the fairways are in good shape. Rough is grown up and pretty thick. Tee boxes are also in good shape especially given that this public course that gets a lot of play. Clubhouse staff is very friendly and always helpful.
Only issue was a couple foursomes that were ahead of us were slow and taking a lot of extra shots. Marshall did come out to try to address this.
I Would Replay the Round
I enjoyed playing this course. It was challenging in length without being punitive. The fairways could have been cut closer. The fairways were narrow and tree lined.
Nice County Course
Spring time is the best time to play this course. Tees, fairways, and greens are in great shape. Unfortunately due to erosion the 6th hole, a par 3, is closed for many months.
The course is challenging with plenty of woods and water. The staff is friendly and helpful. Net warm-up area only.
Price is excellent and the course is walkable. Push carts are available.
GolfWow
Got there a little early thinking, hoping for a practice facility and walked into a putting green with only sticks in the ground and a 3 nets with a mat to warm up on. Then to have there starter ask me 4 times 20 minutes before our tee time was if they were going to show up. Then to be charged for a cart fee even though it wasn’t disclosed on golf now or admittedly maybe i didn’t read it but with have me pay all or nothing is preferred. Course lay out was fun. It’s short and narrow so no real need to driver. Greens were in rough shape majority had intermittent grass so had to play for bumps and jumps. Having to pay a total of $70 for this course is not worth it with other of same value being much more enjoyable. If you can get this course for $35 then it’s a gem. Just make sure to be on time and all of your foursome to be there or be prepared to be rushed off to the course.
Course was in very poor condition not to mention 2 holes were closed . 1 hole was shortened from a 5 to 3 par. The 15 other holes were in very poor condition. Finally you are charged full price to play. Never again
