Friendly Staff!
Super friendly staff and a great layout. The course would be awesome if they invested in the fairways and greens. There are some patchy spots and a lot of crab grass. For the money it’s not a bad value at all.
$70+ for These Conditions? Great Layout, But the Course Quality Was Rough
The layout at National Golf Club in Fort Washington was actually pretty enjoyable, and the course itself has solid potential. Unfortunately, the overall conditioning really took away from the experience.
The range balls were some of the worst I’ve seen — many of them barely had dimples left, making it tough to get any real warmup before the round. The tee boxes were also in terrible shape and looked heavily neglected throughout the course.
The greens were in very rough condition as well, covered in bad spots and inconsistencies that made putts roll unpredictably almost everywhere. On top of that, the fairways looked and played like they hadn’t been cut in quite some time.
What really makes this frustrating is the price. The round was upward of $70, and for conditions like this, that’s hard to justify. If this had been a $30 municipal course experience, it would’ve made a lot more sense. But this was nowhere near close to $100-quality golf by any means.
The layout is there, but the maintenance and overall conditioning need major improvement before I’d consider coming back regularly.
Needs some TLC
I played this course at least once over the past two years and it was always in playable shape. Right now though it is far worse than it has been. The fairways and covered in weeds and rock hard with completely dead spots in some areas. The greens are pockmarked and brown. Also one hole on the front is completely flooded due to a drainage issue while the rest of the course is desperate for water. It’s one of the cheaper courses around but I won’t be going back this year. My guess is it gets even worse in the summer as the real heat begins to set in.
Not worth $68
Tee boxes were sand and in poor condition. Greens were diseased and not taken care of. 100% not worth the price.
My Honest experience
I recently visited National Golf Club for a tournament on April 28th, and I wanted to share my experience. I’m from Boston, and before arriving, I was a bit hesitant after reading some negative reviews online.
However, my experience was completely different.
While this may not be a high-end luxury golf club, the course itself is beautiful and well worth playing. More importantly, the staff were incredibly welcoming, professional, and attentive throughout the entire visit. The General Manager was especially outstanding and made a great impression.
If I lived in the area, I would absolutely become a member. I was actually surprised when I asked about membership pricing—it offers excellent value that’s hard to find elsewhere.
The food was delicious, and the service was consistently great.
I will definitely be returning the next time I’m in the area.
Far worse than the last few years.
Played here 4-5 times and enjoyed it prior. This year conditions were much worse. The staff let us know when we arrived, but this should either be called out online or there should be a discount because it is not nearly worth the same price as it is in proper condition. Hope it’s fixed soon
Great course. Long and challenging.
I enjoyed playing taking into consideration that it's only April so the course was not in its best shape however I still enjoyed my round. The staff was very friendly and easy going.
Shocked!
I can't believe they are charging money for this. The public courses in the area are far better. Don't get me wrong the course has massive potential, the grounds are just not being properly kept as comparedto even the public courses in the area. I'm very disappointed. Sorry to say but this this was my first and it will be the last time for me.
Unplayable Course
The staff was great and super friendly. However, the course is horrible. The fairways are filled with crab grass and the greens are all divots and weeds. The fairways and greens are unplayable and the pace of play was slow. Ended up driving off the course after 3.5 hours and only playing 11 holes. You could give me a free round here and I would respectfully decline.
Yuck
Worst greens and fairways I’ve seen in a long time. Crabgrass fairways and blotchy shag carpet greens. So disappointing.
Bad Greens
The course is not worth the money at the moment. Its a good layout and you can tell it can be a good course but the greens are in really bad shape not. And fairways are okish.
Great layout, needs some TLC
The course has a lot of potential. Great layout and pretty holes. The greens are in terrible shape. Some of the tee boxes were horrendous. The practice putting green is the worst I have ever seen, you can't even call it a green. The driving range mats are terrible and old and leave residue all over your clubs. Was impossible to find a tee to hit off for a driver as they are all missing. Overall the course was fun to play but it needs some investment.
Abysmal Course Maintenance
It appeared the tee boxes and fairways had not been cut in days.
Hard to distinguish rough from fairway, and had to tee ball up higher for it to sit above the grass.
Greens appeared significantly underwatered.
Terrible fairways and greens...
The tee boxes were overgrown, the fairway punished you for being in it. The greens were unplayable.
