Pohick Bay Regional Park Golf Course in Lorton has been one of the area's most popular public courses since it opened in the early 1980s. Playing at Pohick Bay is like playing two golf courses in one, with a front nine that has long, tree-lined fairways and a hillier back nine that features a variety of doglegs and water holes. It is a definitely a shot-maker's course so be prepared to use some creativity and some thoughtful strategizing doesn’t hurt either. The constant up and down of the golf course provides uneven lies and a number of blind shots. The dramatic terrain also makes it a tough course to walk. Trees frame most of the holes, demanding accuracy but also providing a peaceful and secluded feel. Pohick Bay Regional Park Golf Course is popular amongst locals for being one of the most challenging and yet also one of the most affordable courses in the area.

Course in good condition
Course was in good condition. Play was cart path only so was slower than normal. The group in front was at least a hole behind and the ranger didn't say anything. Overall it was a good but slow day.
Good day of golf
We played the day after a big storm so.... cart path only. We (a foursome) played a scramble for fun. Teed off behind a group of 3 walking. Cart path only slowed things up but only a little. We finished in just under 4 hours. The biggest issue with the course are the blind tee shots. By blind I mean it's difficult to see the group ahead of you. Fortunately we weren't being pushed so we took our time. A few of the greens and tee boxes were in rough shape but given the recent heat it's understandable. They crew there is working hard to improve conditions which I appreciate. All in all a good day.
This course is fun.
A very fun course to play and quite scenic too. The staff was very friendly. I had no wait on the F9 but the B9 was a little slow. Total time for round was 4h, 20m. Looking forward to going back.
Pohick Bay Starters
The starters are pretty rude and aggressive. None of them seemed in a good welcoming mood. The Asian one looked like he wanted to fight. Course was in good shape. Only a green was not in good condition. Pro shop staff were friendly and greeted us nicely. Greens keepers were great as well.
Front 9 less difficult than back 9

Fairways were thin like bent grass and bermuda

Start time was botched too many golfers
On tee one should hsve been 8-10 min space
Better than expected
Overall, this course was pretty good and at a pretty good price to boot. It’s not a very long course, but there are lots of elevation changes and tight fairways. The greens were in good shape, but they do run really slow, which cuts both ways. The course condition overall was good not perfect, but above average for a county course in my opinion.

I would not recommend you play this course for only one reason the greens were the slowest I’ve ever seen. They had plenty of grass on them, but they did not cut them. Otherwise the fairways were rough. The tees were in good shape but so much of the game is played on or around the greens so it’s not a course that I would go back to. I’ve played it many times over the years.
The course is in great shape.
No complaints. Tee boxes, fairways, and greens were in great shape. Not an easy course. If you don't keep it in the fairway, your asking for trouble.
