About
Pohick Bay Regional Park Golf Course in Lorton has been one of the area's most popular public courses since it opened in the early 1980s. Playing at Pohick Bay is like playing two golf courses in one, with a front nine that has long, tree-lined fairways and a hillier back nine that features a variety of doglegs and water holes. It is a definitely a shot-maker's course so be prepared to use some creativity and some thoughtful strategizing doesn’t hurt either. The constant up and down of the golf course provides uneven lies and a number of blind shots. The dramatic terrain also makes it a tough course to walk. Trees frame most of the holes, demanding accuracy but also providing a peaceful and secluded feel. Pohick Bay Regional Park Golf Course is popular amongst locals for being one of the most challenging and yet also one of the most affordable courses in the area.

Challenging Course
The course layout was challenging, but I enjoyed it. However, play was slow, and we had to keep waiting for the group ahead of us.
The women’s restroom had only one stall, and the toilet flushed very slowly, so the next person had to wait a long time. There was also no soap or paper towels.
Overall, the facilities were inconvenient, and the course was not a good value for the price.

cartpath only and tee times stacked too close
The lack of space between tee times makes every round slow. Cartpath only on a perfectly sunny zero wet week. Last, charging $20 for a bucket and more than $6 for a hotdog... Hot dogs are $6 at Dan Snyders stadium!

Great course and layout. It makes you think and adjust with the blind tee shorts. The greens changed during the round and a few had a lot of sand on them. Good staff!

Interesting course
Pace of play was 4 hours and 20 minutes. The greens were slow and inconsistent. The fringe on the greens was almost unputtable. The course was challenging with a lot of blind shots. Beautiful course layout. I wish the greens were in better shape.

Challenging and fun. But…but…Not so well maintained anymore.
Is a nice and challenging course, with lots of dog leg holes. The course was in good shape at the beginning of the season, but now is in bad shape and it is more than usage and rains. Some lack of maintenance is obvious. Not so good value now. Either decrease prices or take good care of the course.

Terrible Pace of Play and Conditions
I played this course today and it took 5 1/2 hours playing 18 holes on a Sunday evening. The kids in front of us were hitting three shots off the tee and were taking 5-10 minutes finding their balls. The Marshall basically babysat them and they still took forever. We even consolidated with the group behind us and they finally had to quit because it was getting too late. The course conditions were AWFUL for the price we paid to play. While I found the course layout challenging, the conditions and pace of play for the price just leave a bad taste in your mouth. I will not be back.

Good course, no control over player schedule or pace of play
First I like this course the people are great but some of the clients have no regards for the rules of golf.
While we were playing the first hole a shingle player tried to cut in before us. There was already a single that dropped back from another threesome in front of us, creating a slow pace of play (He quit after 9).
There was no Ranger handling pace of play and we waited on several holes.
They need to control rouge players and pace of play.

Very good course. Recommend
Played here this past weekend. The course itself was in great condition. Greens were true and the staff were great. Pace of play very good. The only thing is there were no cart girls or drinks on the course. They did have water stations every few holes though. Fun, challenging layout with lots of doglegs and elevation changes. Highly recommend.

Confusion
Staff confused as to whether Cart path only play. On hole 12 we were told that carts could scatter. Not told when going to hole 2. Maybe have a cart rule or other instructions posting signage. Brilliant idea !
