About
This course used to be considered a hidden gem. Now, Oak Valley Golf Course in Beaumont is an off-the-beaten-path known reasonable joy. Stopping on the way from Los Angeles to Palm Springs for a golf detour is no fool's play. Not with the fast greens, dramatic elevation changes and swerving fairways available at Oak Valley in Beaumont.
A Lee Schmidt and Brian Curley design, Oak Valley is probably best known for greens that are anything but desert typical. Speed is the name of the game here, with a tap sometimes too much on a downhill putt.
Recognition does not travel that quickly. It took a decade for Oak Valley to get a four star rating from Golf Digest. Once it did, Beaumont suddenly became a golf stopping spot on the Palm Springs express. Now, you're considered a smart golfer if you linger on the way to Palm Springs.
"It's a nice getaway from the crowds in the desert, as well as some of the other, more populated golf areas," head pro Scott Arnold said. "It's almost like being in the country. No houses line the fairways. Each hole is different. And because of the way it's laid out, you often can't even see another hole from the one you're playing."

Golfer Reviews
Tough course- in great condition
This was our 1st time at Oak Valley.
The course was in great shape- fairways are lush and greens are nice & roll true.
They have lost a few of the tee boxes- but overall- a really fun & challenging track.
The bunkers are hard pan- no sand- and many not playable.
Oak Valley at Beaumont
First time to play this long historical course, course layout relatively easy and straightforward, fairway and tee box need clean up. Greens are up to standard, did not see starter nor beverage cart, only few places have water bottles for refills. After play is a good time as no one behind.
Always a good time.
Booked as a single and was only paired up with one other person. First tee of the day so pace of play was perfect. Fairways and greens always seem to be in good condition. Only downside was the restaurant and bar weren’t open and no cart girl, but typical for weekdays. Restaurant was still closed for the turn around 815, so bring some food and drinks if you plan on an early tee. Will definitely play again.
Fairways and greens in excellent shape. The only request for the course I would have is a practice facility for chipping and sand trap practice. Otherwise a good experience.
Excellent course
Excellent course, nice fairways and Greens. Layout was good. The bunkers were not in good condition. I enjoyed my round.
Thick Rough
The rough was thick throughout the course...hadn't been mowed in awhile.
Course conditions
Past two weeks and 6/17/26: best overall (greens, fairways, bunkers) conditions ever; could be best public golf course greens in SoCal!
Great Course except food area
The course is well laid out and in excellent condition with fast greens. Score card yardage is deceptive since most of the greens are extremely elevated which adds nearly 500 yard to the real playing length. Starters were very friendly.
The downside is the food area. A sign states there are no cart girls so you have to provide your own beverages which is fine. I have to drink Gatorade Zero to watch my sugar intake. So here was the weird part and a first for me. Although the carts have a cooler on them there is no ice in them. As one who has played across the country I found this a bit unusual for higher end courses I hit areas like this, but I can get my own ice. Needing ice for my drink I went into the club house bar area and asked for a cup of ice. The girl behind the counter said “I have to charge you for a drink, our manager James sent us a text reminding us no more free ice”. I could not believe my ears. I asked if there was an ice machine outside. Nope. So I had to pay for a drink which was $5 by the time I tipped the girl. Then ask her not to put soda into the plain paper cup, just the ice. So I ended up paying $5 for a cup of ice.
To say that James the restaurant manager is the village idiot is probably being kind. Why would you do this to your customers? The man needs to be fired. How about filling the cart coolers with ice.
General
Only reason not excellent course conditions rating is: white tees 1&2 need re-sodding; over-seeding 2X/yr not working; No.4 white tee also needs help. Otherwise this public course is primo.
Course layout is top tier
For a course that doesn’t have a lot of elevation changes, the lay out sure makes up for it. Have always loved playing this course and it’s truly the definition of a hidden gem.
