Challenge the Savannahs. On the windward side of Merritt island lies one of the most unique golf courses on Florida's Space Coast. The 6,450 yard Gordon G. Lewis design winds through majestic hardwood forests, natural wetlands, and scenic lakes to reveal protected, undulated greens. Nine holes are framed by a natural savannah conservation area, bordered by hammocks with a high canopy of trees and coastal flatwoods. Water, in the form of natural wetlands and manmade lakes, comes into play on thirteen holes. The course boasts several unforgettable holes, such as the 525-yard, par 5 Signature 7th, regarded as one of the most challenging holes in Central Florida. This beautifully tight, typically southern course features six sets of tees, making play ideal for beginners and pros. The back tees are demanding even for the best of the best, while our new “Family Tees” are playable by anyone who wants to tee up. Prepare for your round by warming up on our practice facilities that include: unique aqua range, chipping and bunker area, and full-sized practice putting green. Look around during your visit, and you will notice nature's splendor on display. Our preserve features many water birds, birds of prey, reptiles, and low country mammals that make the savannahs their home. The fairways additionally offer a great view of the nearby Cape Canaveral rocket launches. Our southern plantation styled Clubhouse is a great place to start and end your day at The Savannahs. Inside you will find a golf shop, plus a bar and grill with great food and hospitality to match. Or, wander outside to the veranda overlooking the aqua range and golf course to catch the sunset.

Has potential but needs to work out the kinks

This course is getting ready to have the greens all aerated and sanded, layout of the holes keeps you from getting refreshments. Carr will notify you of the available snacks and drinks after hole 15… when your 6 holes over due. Fairways were kept clean but cart paths require 4mph driving and from the tire marks it looks like no one uses the concrete path and go straight through the grass.

The greens were in good shape, but the rest of the course was just average.

Good course

Good course if you can get on for a decent price, just prepare for typically slower pace of play. Layout is fun with both challenging but risk-reward style holes. Lots of water. Only glaring problem is the ads they run on the carts every 10 seconds. Without the option to turn it off it’s quite irritating, I’m just trying to relax and play golf not listening to my cart chime every ten seconds with ad after ad.

Changed names

I think they changed the name of the course to space coast golf. Which I could t find in my 18 birdies. I also believe they changed the layout cause the course that came up wasn’t the same order. That’s all good though I actually golfed better. It’s a beautiful course.

Space Coast 5-12-26

Got a 1230pm tee time for under $40. Jimmy in the pro shop was super helpful and friendly. Course is in pretty good shape given the tough winter and drought. Tees needed mowing but not a problem. Fairways good. Greens pretty good too. Bev cart came around 3 times and she was great. Jeff and Marshall were great too. They let me try on some shirts right in the pro shop. BTW, their logo is cool but the brand of shirt sizes smaller than the label so try it on before you leave. My apologies to the other single they were going to pair me with. I just wasn’t ready to go and didn’t want to rush to the tee or hold you up. Overall I really enjoyed it and would highly recommend especially for the price.

Hot Day on Course

I hadn't played since last September so I chose to play by myself rather than join the twosome in front of me.. My game came back slowly but the course was in pretty good shape. The real story was the te.perature.. When I got home I checked the weather and found out the te.p with humidity made it feel like 106 degrees. I jumped into my87 degrees pool and stayed there.

Space Coast Golf

Great course. Only issue was the outside drink/snack option never opened, and at the turn around 10:15am the inside restaurant still wasn't opened. Maybe that's normal, but it would be nice for some sort of options for at least water and soda somewhere.

Couse conditions

I play this course using free drop fairway/rough. Some bad patches off the fairways and alot of the greens.

Elevated/ firm fast greens made for a challenging round. Loved the conditions of the greens (great grass that played consistant/ fast anf fair. Good golfers will enjoy these greens.

All staff were friendly and helpful

Course is in good shape. Small elevated greens were semi-fast. Most fairways and tee boxes were in good shape. All staff were very friendly and helpful. Beer Cart girl was around 4-5 times and was friendly. Course is narrow with lots of water. Lots of wildlife. I played on a super windy day. Tough course in the wind.

Worst golf experience I’ve ever had!

Pros: The guy in the pro shop was super nice and respectful.

The cart girl was nice but poured our drink in a dirty cup.

Cons: HORRIBLE PACE OF PLAY. About 1:3 groups had young kids. Super rude players. No ranger. The course doesn’t look like how it does online and golf now straight up catfish. The course layout is decent on the front 9 but the back 9 is disgusting. This place used to be really nice but now it seems the new management is only focused on the restaurant and bar. I normally don’t mind a cheap/crappy course even if it’s slow but this was such a bad experience we left after hole 12.

Also I’m not leaving this review to hurt the course yall just need to rethink your choices you ruined a legendary course.
