Rockledge Country Club, hole 18. Photo submitted by TimGavrichGP on 03/18/2019
Boring course
First of all- the start were chaotic. I had a 10:27 start time.
Arrived 10 min before and got told my flight teed off already and they are ahead. But I could play alone or join group behind me. However the group behind me declined ( how friendly) and I approached my flight. They told me I can tee off behind them because they play fast. Okay I had thought and teed off. Par 5 and my driver and 2nd shot almost approached them and they waved me thru. Thats about fast play. So I skipped 2nd hole and got stopped by the next 2some. Another waiting time of 5 min pet hole.
Then they disappeared and got stopped again by a group of 4. After 4 holes they waved my thru…then the pace of play was good.
The Layout is boring - fairways are dead due to the frost. Just the greens have good conditions. Course is not challenging thats why loads of elderly people play and some have manual trolleys and that slows the play down
Not coming back again…
Course has had a tuff winter.
The courses had a tough winner and experience a lot of drought.
Several improvements since last year.
Greens are in good shape and staff is excellent
Decent course & challenging
So it was a cold and windy day. Grass was not the best in the fairway but probably because of the recent freeze. And most courses in the area look the same. Really a good layout and very good greens. Bunkers were also in decent shape. Everyone around the course was super nice. Would play here again since the price is a little less than some of the others.
Good course
I just spent ten days in Florida mostly to play golf. I played 5 courses and overall the grass conditions were not good anywhere. This course was better than most in that regard, but still so so. It was of course in part due to winter conditions. I would say Az is better for winter golf because there is more widespread overseeding, so you get to play off real active grass instead of dormant dead stuff. In 5 rounds I would say 97% of my shots were from a tight lie, which sucks. Many had even dyed some areas green for better appearance. I liked this course and staff was good. Just didn’t like the Florida conditions in general. They need to overseed in the fall like AZ.
Nice course. Pretty good shape
Website said there were a few holes with poor fairways but other than that, it was in good shape. Enjoyed our roynd
Way better now
I haven’t played here in over a year due to previous course conditions and vowed never to play here again. I saw recent reviews about renovations and good experiences so I decided to give it a try and I was impressed with the renovations. The greens are really nice , the fairways now lack a ton of weed overgrowth and bare spots that previously made me not want to play here. Great work by the maintenance team.
Course is in great shape
Course is in great shape compared to a few years ago. Greens were good, fairways are green and playable.
Excellent all around
Greens were well cared for and true. Nice maintenance all around the course. Staff was very friendly.
Great shape
I hadn’t played here in the last 9 months. They have redone a lot of fairways and the greens were running true. Course was in great shape considering it’s summer time.
Enjoyable!!!
From clubhouse lockers to friendly staff to nine tee-off combinations, you can't beat Rockledge's legacy of golfing finery. Add to that the unpretentious treatment of out-of-towners and a forgiving course and you've got one of the best experiences we've had in the area.
The course is wide open as the fairways reminded me of the compact inner city courses in LA. There are few trees, minimal bunkers and shallow greens, all in a park-like atmosphere. For instance, hitting your tee shot in an adjacent fairway could mean you're better off than if you'd tried the customary route to a par 4 green.
Our foursome included a couple of long-ballers and grandparents, but everyone was pleased with the tee box selection as final scores were within 9 shots of each other. The only exceptions are a couple of par 5's when we all had to hit from the same distance, which seemed very unfair to the female who chose the most forward tee on the other holes.
The tee boxes were well marked, the fairways had very little rough or water hazards, bunkers were perfect and greens ran true. It all added up to a wonderful experience for everyone.
We will be back.
