The golf course at Red Mountain Ranch & Country Club is a beautifully designed layout set against a desert landscape with rock formations, mesquite trees, and cacti. Pete and Perry Dye designed the course, combining both beauty and challenge. This championship course was built on rolling terrain and has large, sharply contoured greens and extensive mounding that is reinforced with railroad ties. There are not only deep sand bunkers but also grass bunkers protecting the greens. There are also four ponds on the course at Red Mountain Ranch & Country Club, but only three create water hazards that come into play on four holes. A notable hole on the course in which water comes into play is the sixth, a hole that has a peninsula green with water surrounding it along three sides.

Fun golf course

This course is a Pete Dye design. Alot of fun to play. Difficult because of rolling hills and greens. It was worth the price even though there's not much grass this time of year.

Fun Course

This is June in Arizona. Given the time of year, the greens were in very good shape. They rolled a bit slow but putts held their line well. Good approach shots would leave a ball mark and hold the green.

The fairways had some burnt out spots, but that is typical for this time of year in the desert.

The toughest thing about the course is the tee complexes, many of which are elevated with steep slopes if your miss the surface with your approach shot.

Awesome Layout

Played the course mid morning and was able to get out before a group. Course condition was amazing for post season. Fairways and greens immaculate. Rate was discounted which I appreciated but of the four courses I've played so far this year...this is by far the absolute best. Would definitely play it again.

Great Layout

First time playing this course, got a great rate on GOLFNOW. From check-in to finish, the staff was outstanding. The course has a great layout typical of a Pete Dye design with undulating greens and slopes in the fairway. Tee boxes, greens, and bunkers were in great condition. Some of the fairways were starting to burn, which is normal during season transition. It's a bit of a drive, but I thought well worth it. I'll be back.

Great Course that Need Love

This was our 3rd time playing this course. The first two times we played “in season”. We really enjoyed the “in season” course. It is a Pete Dye course, so it is challenging. During the season we found the fairways and greens lush. There are multiple tee shots, and we found it a fun course. I would recommend it during the season.

But, the course we played was completely different out of season. It looked like the course had not been watered in weeks. The fairways were thin and barren. It felt like hitting off a howling alley. The plants around the course were dry. It felt like we really were playing in the desert. The course has a lot of mounds in the fairways and near the greens. Without any grass to help stop balls, the balls almost always rolled into the desert. In fairness, the greens were beautiful and fun to putt. I would not recommend this course for summer play. It has great potential, but needs better upkeep. The staff was very friendly.

Classic Pete Dye

If you don’t like taking less than driver off the tee box and unique green complexes, don’t play here. If you’re up for a challenge from tee to green, this one’s for you! Lots of elevation changes and undulation dominate this challenging but fair layout. It’s not long, but it is tight, demanding accuracy off the tee. Staff is great and you can get around in 4hrs or less, especially in the warmer weather months. Don’t visit Mesa for golf and leave this one out - it’s worth the drive!

Good course

Course layout is great. Fairways and greens could use a little work during the hot months, few dead spots on both. But overall I do enjoy this course.

Summer comes early

The very hot spring we've had has taken a toll on the grass. Great course, great staff, hope they can keep the condition up to their great standard. Slow play because of tricky, Pete Dye design.

Challenge for a duffer

The back nine is more challenging than the front. There are lots of rolling hills in the fairways. Most greens are elevated making a bit more difficult for a person who has trouble walking up inclines. Course was in good shape. The beverage cart was much appreciated on a warm day pushing 100 degrees and the young lady (Rena?) was so pleasant and friendly. I’d definitely recommend you giving it a try.
