Del Urich: A Legacy Reborn with Chick-fil-A–Level Service and a Killer Burrito
I learned to play golf at Randolph North and Randolph South, so coming back to what is now Del Urich Golf Course carried some history for me. After all these years—and the redesign that transformed Randolph South into Del Urich—the course still delivers. In fact, it exceeded my expectations.
The layout is excellent: challenging, well thought out, and still reminiscent of what I remember enjoying years ago. The fairways were in excellent condition, and the greens were truly outstanding—some of the best I’ve played recently. The tee boxes were in okay shape, though a bit of leveling would take them up another notch.
What really stood out was the staff. The service was exceptional—comparable to the consistency and hospitality you’d expect from Chick-fil-A. On top of that, I grabbed a breakfast burrito, and whoever’s in the kitchen knows exactly what they’re doing—it was excellent.
Overall, this was a great experience. I’d absolutely recommend it and will be back.
Nicely surprised
Our first time playing this course and we really enjoyed it. Wasn’t sure what to expect, but we found this to be a nice course. It’s in very nice shape, fairways, tee-boxes, and greens but some of the bunkers were thin and dry. If you are off the fairway, you will find yourself on some very thin grass, and dirt areas. We were there a few times and it is hard to get under the ball. So stay on the fairways and you’re great! Friendly staff and nice facilities. There are 2 courses here, Randolph being the other one, but from what we heard, we were glad we played Dell Ulrich.
KC33026
Very nice, playable city owned public course! A parkland setting in desert country, the course possessed many undulating fairways with some challenging lies. . Sand traps were well manicured despite poor sand and most all the greens were elevated and required precise air time on approach shots!
Dell Ulrich a gem in the shade
Great course for senior player early in the season. Greens and fairways are in great condition. Staff are ultra friendly and helpful. Bonus are the trees around the course offering shaded areas in a hot day in Tucson, yes in March it was great to sit under the shade when I had to occasionally wait
Try it!!!
Slow Play
It turned out to be a 5 hour round because the marshals were not moving people along. I get that it’s a muni, I get that everyone isn’t a fast player, but it’s not fair to the average golfer to have groups slowing up the entire course on a 100° day.
Don’t be afraid to tell people they need to move faster, to pick up and keep up with the group in front. It ruined a great scoring round because you lose all rhythm and patience.
Greens have improved
It's been a couple of years since I played this course. Last time the greens were terrible. slow and very grainy. In fact I was never going to play there again. However, did play it last week and found the greens to be very playable and fast. A vast improvement. The course in general the fairways were very hard and fast and had many tight lies.
I'd actually play it again since the greens had changed so much. I think the layout is pretty good and challenging.
Golf with friends
The course was in great shape. My only complaint was that people don’t seem to realize they should rake the traps. I raked at least 2-3 sets of footprints in every trap I was in. You should not be allowed to come back if you can’t show the simplest gesture of golf etiquette.
Great track
Great greens and fairways. Very scorable if keep drive in fairways
Second time bag item stolen
I should learn my lesson the first time, my tangle finder was stolen from my bag. The time my putter head cover. This slow rent stuff at this course. I do not experience this at any other golf courses to date. The balls for these people to take stuff from other golfers bag. I hope Karma catches up to them. Truly negative experience. Dell Urich needs to put up a warning regarding valuables on the course.
Disgruntled staff
The cart attendant Kim was unprofessional. Wayward shots from other holes and muddy fairways.
Inappropriate comments from Cart staff
Kim was unprofessional and confrontational as a cart attendant. Pace issues were mismanaged. Muddy fairways.
