About
Drumoig Golf Hotel sprawls across 250 acres of rolling countryside inhabited by a variety of different birds and wildlife. The dramatic landscape provides the course with plenty of loch-side fairways and quarry greens. The lochs come into play on three holes, most notably on the challenging par-3 ninth. The difficult tee shot is followed by a tricky shot over the loch in order to reach the green. More advanced golfers will find the back tees provide a good challenge while the front tees are better for beginners. Golfers will also enjoy the views that stretch past St. Andrews Bay and the River Tay to Dundee and Carnoustie. The par-5 fifth is the signature hole of the golf course. The hole, which often plays into prevailing wind, requires a strong drive and a long iron to reach the narrow opening to the green.

Golfer Reviews
A Little Gem
Whilst staying in St Andrews and wanting an inexpensive course for a day, we had a recommendation to play Drumoig. The weather ensured the course was quiet, just a large group from Dumbarton ahead of us, on their umpteenth visit here.
After a questioning welcome (i.e. why on earth would you be playing in 50+mph winds) we were off. A great downhill par 4 opener and a par 3 back up the hill got us into the course. We played off forward tees and had a long walk to the 3rd tee, I gather changes are afoot, and this could be a long par 5, but today played as a medium par 4.
The pick of the holes utilise a rocky shelter for a couple of greens, one on the front, one on the back nine. Use of water around the turn and on the closing hole meant lots of variety. There are some proper par 5s too, well over 550yds.
Overall a great course which had stood up to the storms of the last few days.
Really good, would be excellent but….
Ok so play regularly and traveled to nearby and try to play a different course each time, this is high up on the would happily play again!
Not from the area I had no idea of the off course lay out and had no idea of a driving range and practice area which is down the road from the course, on arrival I had no idea where the pro shop was so headed to the hotel, I was directed to the starter hut, where I found a course card and a very friendly chap who was very informative and welcoming.
Little wait for a 3 ball to head off first and then away, as a one ball I was happy to take my time and understand the fact it’s very popular, only dry day for a while so expected a busy day.
Just to say I had to go and sit in the car after 9 holes as it was absolutely wedged and ridiculously slow
Course, I really enjoyed it, turf held recent moisture well and overall great surface to play off, ball sat nicely, greens were protected but still plenty fast enough and well kept, all bunkers were universal and in good order.
White paint everywhere it needed to be and all GUR and notices written on the ground.
Good challenge for any golfer level, some interesting holes and great undulations in the greens, the 9/10/11th that’s a bit of a mind bender with lots of water and it was windy!
I’d very much like to return as the actual course ranks highly for me, and I’d take a bit more time to look into the off course amenities etc
£40 on gold now, and same on the website, few cheaper options but 40 is a bargain where I’m used to playing.
In an effort to play different places each time I won’t return quickly, but it’ll be hard pressed to be beaten in my personal ranking, think a round last year at Forfar just pips it, only for the tighter tree lines etc, but now that’s American owned and doubled in cost I’d equal it all out to joint top spot.
A fine example, would happily play again
Start from the beginning,
Come up from down south for family, and have selected a few courses, used golf now for ease but noticed the main website was just as easy and prices were the same.
But all over the place, and couldn’t find a pro shop, or practice facilities, hotel reception directed me to the starter hut, chap inside was very friendly and asked what I needed and explained the main aspects.
Waited on every single shot, I can see why as it’s the only sunny day of the week and I guess people wanted out to play, it’s not great but a bonus to play a good course in the cold blue sky of Scotland.
Course was in great shape, lots of rain lately and it holds the moisture in the turf very well, universal bunkers and greens were wooly to a point but fair and well protected, some very undulating and I bet when they’ve cut them down, they’d be very difficult
Generally the course is very pleasing, I’d happily go back, £40 which is cheap where I play, people up this neck of the woods are very spoilt
Much better than a few he played one the other side of the Tay.
Excellent course. Immaculate greens. Value for money.
My Father and I played this course the morning after hours of very heavy rain. You would never have known it had rained. There wasn't a single puddle in sight. The fairways were in excellent condition and really well maintained. The greens were outstanding!
There's a lot of variety and some very interesting holes. The bunkers are all in good positions to test your driving and course management.
£40 per person is fantastic value for money. The staff including the starter and the bar staff were all very friendly and attentive. I'll definitely be back!
Drumoig Golf Course
Absolutely exceptional place to play the game and enjoy a day out. Great amenities from the start with rolls, cakes and coffee on offer. From the first hole to the last I was not disappointed once, lovely fast running fairways and immaculate greens that are true and quick even coming into the winter months. Each hole is different from the last and every shot requires a strategic approach. Well placed bunkers and alot of water hazard makes this a great test of golf but and enjoyable round no matter your handicap. Can’t wait to play here again.
Excellent condition
Greta course, in lovely condition. The greens are genuinely superb with the rest of the course pleasantly playable.
Firm and fair.
Pace of play is a bit frustrating with 4 ball after 4 ball leading to bottlenecks all over the course. As it’s long and quite challenging for shorter hitter.
But a great place to play.
Drumoig review
Play quite a bit in Fife, and this was by far the best value for money, as well as being a course in great condition. The greens were excellent
Fast greens
Best greens I’ve played all year. Slick. Great course challenge and with views to cherish.
Slowly declining
Great staff, very helpful. Ideal location with driving range to warm up. Stunning setting but some recent changes to holes making the course feel disjointed from previous years. Greens in good condition and overall a good day out for £27. Wouldn’t pay full asking price now.
Challenging for all levels
Great course well maintened, staff helpful and friendly.
Only minus for here, is the buggies are on their last legs.
Last 2 visits I've changed the buggy after 2 holes due to struggling up small inclines on 1st and 2nd holes.
Course needing rain
Fairways very burnt but greens and tees in great condition
Got round in just over 3hours great pace of play as course was quiet
Amazing
A fantastic course with a variety of challenging holes, a must play!
Great value for money
I met a couple from the US at a bar in St Andrews who were asking about courses in the area and I had no hesitation in recommending Drumoig. As they didn't have a car, I picked them up and joined them for a 3 ball. We all thoroughly enjoyed the course and they were surprised that it was significantly less expensive than other rip off courses in the area. I hope Drumoig conntinues to offer good value for money for locals and visitors alike. The course has everything including rock feature holes and water. It also has great views. The fairways are burnt due to the recent spell of dry weather but the greens are in good condition.
Great find
Played in June 26, greens were beat we have played (including Dumbarnie!) Absolutely brilliant holes with a lot of great challenges. Will 100% come back again. Great find!
Golf course was excellent
Disappointed with Golf Now. We arrived to find we had been booked to play in a four ball with two strangers.
The sandwiches in the club house were very poor.
