Ballumbie Castle Golf Club

Ballumbie was okay, the guy in the pro shop was nice. The course has seemingly been through a lot of changes in recent years, which would've been nice to know as I would've updated my Garmin watch to get the relevant distances etc. It's weird to look down - your watch says 380y dog leg right par 4... but the tee says 260y par 4 straight etc. If it wasn't for the horrendously slow play then we probably would've been hitting some shots to thr wrong area. If you want to play this course then I suggest playing either the very first tee time or late on.

Layout good, greens in good condition, shame about the long walks between holes

The course was in good condition. The lay out was a bit mixed up but well sign posted. The staff were friendly and helpful.

A bit disappointed there was no food available.

Wanted a course near to carnoustie (as hubby playing a comp there) that would suit me (23hcp) and a friend. The staff were really friendly. We had a snack and drink before play which was lovely.

Course fairly quiet and weather was dry until the last 2 holes. Course in good condition with some interesting holes. A bit of water but fairly avoidable. Reasonably well signposted except when going to 11th!? Which was across road and we nearly missed it !!

Greens fairly quick and consistent. Will definately play it again.

Course was good, with some tricky holes, only bad points I've got is for non members your playing blind as score cards dont have course layouts on them like other courses. Had to used Google maps just to see roughly where I was hitting other than that was a good day out.

Mats for tee boxes which is expected although not signposted on some holes. Some winter greens (one of which on a hill) but all in an absolutely cracking day

Course layout has changed due to sake of land for housing. Now loads of oar 3s as land is tight. Range finder did not work as homes have been reordered and not updated on Carmin so we didn’t know what we were playing. Many many sign pointing you to where you’re going but we still played to the wrong green at 14. Very confusing. I played this course 10 years ago and it was a magnet challenge so I was very disappointed. Worth playing if you can get a hit deal but not worth it full price

Unfortunately I only played 6 holes and had to give up, as that took about 2 hours.

There was a junior competition out immediately in front me which was horrendously slow.

After slowly playing 4 balls to kill time at the 1st, I still had to wait over 20 mins on the 2nd Tee.

I pitched and putted for another 15 mins on the 2nd green to try and let them get ahead, to no avail.

My booking should never have been taken at that time. I was advised on arrival - and after a 2 hour drive, I had little option but to accept the situation.

Really disappointed as it actually looked quite decent.

All in all, a pretty good experience. Price was ok. There were some really interesting holes with water features. The greens were in good condition. I wasn't so fond of the increased risk of being hit by a golf ball in several holes. There are stray balls flying from the driving range. There are a few holes where you are playing into groups coming towards you on adjacent holes. There is also one crossover hole.

Greens barely have any grass on them, and the ones that do, are very dry. Didnt look like they had been watered for months.

Disappointing when it was previously a well looked after course. Not worth £40 green fee.

Played the course and it was a really good course, the greens still had piles of sand on them which makes it hard to put especially so close to the new summer season, but a few tricky holes, amazing staff, and a really good driving range. I can’t wait to come back and play when the course is at its peak

I love playing this course enjoy it I've been playing it for a long time in a regular base this is a might end up coming a member of it by do like playing another coaches as well so I will show you this up because I like this up as well because it gives you value to play Another courses and I do like that

I was a member here for around 8 seasons from 2003 and the course wasn’t too bad back then, but after playing it yesterday for the first time in a long time, I couldn’t believe how bad it was.

They’ve sold off land over the years and have lost a few of the original holes, and to keep it playing as an 18 hole course, they’ve just crammed in extra tees and greens wherever they could. The current layout has no natural flow and is bizarre to say the least. The worst bit being the 4 par 3’s within a 5 hole stretch on the back 9.

Appreciate it was the middle of winter when we played, but the general condition of the whole course was extremely poor, with various parts looking abandoned.

For a short course, we all came off absolutely exhausted with the amount of hills and walking between tees.

I’d recommend this course to a non-golfer wanting to give golf a try, but for anyone else, I’d would suggest paying a bit more and playing somewhere else.

Sadly, I won’t be back. At least the driving range is decent.

I love playing the game or not Kush as I get a very cute for me for not being a member you get bargained and it's a very friendly course and I do enjoy playing it so can't be a little bit challenging but I like that that helps your game
