St. Michaels Golf Club

About
St. Michael's Golf Club sits atop Gallow Hill, providing spectacular views past the River Eden to the historic buildings of St. Andrews. The course sprawls across a prehistoric settlement that is protected by Historic Scotland. The terrain is an interesting mix of wooded parkland and undulating heathland with a well-draining sandy base. The golf course features small greens and narrow fairways that place a premium on accuracy. While it may not have the prestige or the classic links layout of St. Andrews, St. Michael's Golf Club offers just as formidable a test. The challenges begin immediately on the first hole, an uphill par 4 with a fairway that slopes right to left. St. Michael's signature hole is the par-3 15th, which many consider to be the most demanding short hole in Fife. There is a large dip to the left and rear of the green, a bunker to the front right, and out-of-bounds to the left and on the railway line behind.

St Michaels Leuchars
Returned to play this course now for a second time during the Scottish Winter months. Enjoyed my round, no fairway mats, full greens. Course in good condition for this time of year. Good challenging pars 3.
What I also enjoyed about off the course is the warm welcome in the wee Clubhouse where they have a log burner. Chap behind the bar very welcoming. Home made soup excellent. Perfect combination for post round game. Highly recommended.
Great Winter Golf
Played in awful wind and rain but a really enjoyable course nonetheless. Set up on winter course layout so 6 par 3s, winter mats and some maintenance going on but doesn't detract from the round knowing this. Enough challenging shots combined with opportunity to just play your game around varied and intersting holes. Greens are pretty quick despite the weather. Held up really well to the conditions. Will certainly return for a round in sunshine/calmer weather!
Wee gem
Play this course a few times each year, comps and winter golf, great wee course( better during golf season,a lot of par 3,s on winter layout) but greens good all year round, staff in club always friendly, defo worth a visit.
A really lovely course
Very friendly and the course was in top condition.
Autumn visit
Played the course on a bright Autumnal Saturday and the course was in great condition with very good and fast greens. As always you receive a great welcome and at great value for 18 holes.
We managed the front nine in one hour 20 but sadly caught up with the end of a pub outing so slowed up on the back nine, just made it in before dark.....
Great wee course only 10 minutes from St.Andrews
A little gem!!!!
The day we played weather could not be worse but what a fantastic little course! The staff were very friendly in the clubhouse and we were able to take our little dog on the lead as well.
Will definitely be back to play when up this way next.
Well worth a visit ST Michael’s golf course
played recently and found it a superb course. Not too punishing, great views across the top of the course. The 15/16th holes are really good and not as easy as they look. Staff and members were very welcoming, food and refreshments in club were great. Definitely play it again when we are up visiting. You won’t be disappointed. Course was in excellent condition especially the greens. Excellent value. 👍
Fantastic course
What a real gem. Well looked after course. Interesting holes, perfect greens, clean tidy fairways.
A must play course
A great course. Generous fairways, great smooth greens. Well laid out with interesting holes throughout. Great value for money at £20 each a round. You really must play this course.
Well worth the money
Excellent course for the money on the hot deal and very friendly club and interesting holes and excellent greens for September which were quick like links greens. Well worth a visit!
Great value
Quiet , informal and friendly, if you like course that's quite short, decent little track
Great value for money
There were some very interesting and quirky holes and some similar looking holes. The greeens were excellent and as the course was dried out it felt like links. Great value for money for an enjoyable course.
Good course
For a tenner and £1.00 booking fee you really cannot go wrong. This course does not have markings pointing to next tee which is required on the 1st 9 holes. Kinda not layer out like you would expect. Overall though after asking a few folk where the next hole was it was a really nice course. Greens were good. Really scenic course. I loved it
Played with my grandson had a great day the biggie was great
A must visit
Being a regular visitor to St Andrews’ for many years I was delighted to play this hidden Gem of a course only a few miles away from the Town.
