I’ve played all over Ireland and I’d have to say that Arklow is probably my favourite course. Every time I play it I’m blessed with the weather. Course is very fair with not the usual hay that you find on most links corses when your not down the middle every time

Got a great welcome in the pro shop. Nice man sorted me out with directions to the first tee box. After a short stint on the putting green I was at the 1st 10 minutes before my tee time. 4 ball teeing off and another group of four arrived the bloke asked what time I was to start and I told him 10:30. He said his group was 10:30 but there was a delay.

Of course I stood back and allowed their group go ahead. They were making their way up the fairway the next group of 4 arrived and said they were in a competition with the lads in front. I told them I was booked out and there was a delay and the guy started giving out that I missed my tee time and that a solo golfer has no standing on the course. Well he was told where he could go!!!!

The course is a crazy lay out with multiple tee shots crossing other fairways. Balls flying everywhere. The fairways and bunkers were well kept, it's a pity the greens were airlifted with more sand than the gone desert on each one. It was like putting through a puddle

4 1/2 hours coming on to the 15th tee. The 18th tee box was right beside it so I played the last hole and called it a day.

Much better value to be had elsewhere

Got a few tips & few extra balls from the pro & off to the 1st.

Front is a beautiful links course with great bunkering & wonderful greens. Not overly long but didn’t need to be with the wind blowing at 25mph off the Irish Sea.

The back nine has a mix of link’s & parkland.

The finish of 15, 16, 17 & 18 is a stretch that will test every part of your game. So glad I played this course & would love to play it again.

Conditions were not very good. There was 1 temporary green on an otherwise well designed hole, depriving the player of the best approach shot of the day. The course is extremely hilly, with lots of walking in between the holes. Tee boxes were a mess including some with artificial turf. The greens were slow but true.

I was lucky to play it on a good day. From the first tee box and through the first 7 holes it was fantastic but then it turns into a Linksy parkland course and the layout is slightly oppressive. It serves someone who knows the course well.

It's a good course in its own right but to describe it as a links course is a bit misleading in my opinion.

Greens were excellent and very fast

Pure Links golf. Very interesting course layout and hole design. And challenging....yes. Fast, Tough greens.

Just not that impressive. No holes had views of the sea and just a weird layout. Play Blainroe instead - cheaper and better by far
