Hill Country Golf Club - Lakes/Oaks
About
Hill Country Golf Club offers three nines, all of which sprawl across 200 scenic acres of Texas Hill Country. The terrain is provided with rolling meadows and steep hillsides dotted with tranquil lakes and ponds that come into play throughout the 27 holes. The Lakes Nine is obviously characterized by the clear blue lakes that come into play throughout the course. There are also wooded ravines and strategically placed bunkers throughout the course for even more challenges. The Oaks Nine is named for the towering oaks that blanket the course. From wooded ravines to tree-lined fairways, this nine is a demanding test of accuracy. There are strategically placed bunkers and water comes into play on a few holes. The courses, which were designed by well-known architectural firm Arthur Hill & Associates, have received praise from both Golf Digest and Golf Magazine.

Creek Course #9 Photo submitted by GreerGolf on 06/06/2017
Enjoyed This Course (Lake and Creek)
I played the forward tees at 77 and some physical problems. Very friendly course and I was able to shoot my handicap, I was surprised that we never saw a refreshment cart; water was provided but a beer or libation who have been nice. The staff should inform players and they could buy something for the cooler. This was the only negative I have for this great course I’ll play again!
I think I would have really liked the course
but 6 hours no way. They need marshals to
keep the pace
Not Their Best Day
Arrived to find out we had to play the same 9 (Oaks) twice because of an outing. We were told we received a “discounted rate” but not sure how true that was.
Course is in decent condition. Not great. It’s a tight layout.
Real problem is in the staff. 25 minutes for 4 hot dogs at the turn. They screwed the order up 3 separate times and no one seemed particularly interested in getting us our food.
Played La Cantera the day before. For $60 less per round, this course really needs to up their game.
Great experience!
Course was wide open on a Friday afternoon. Started at 4 and finished at 7 playing by myself playing everything down and putting out. Couple of greens had some poa annua issues, but fairways were fairly lush and green. Greens were receptive with the tee boxes being a little sloppy with topography. Was a little upset to see the course leaning into resort type golf destination and getting rid of the chipping green area. Not enough courses have a good practice area for short game. Overall experience was great shot a solid 72 and will be coming back with friends and guests!
Now that construction is over….
Great to be back at the course now that the lagoon project has been completed. The updates are great and the conditions were very nice. Staff very friendly as well. Go play!
A dry year
With lack of moisture this season, golf courses are vulnerable and it shows. Greens okay but rest is fairly dry.
Go play!
They have 3 different 9-hole courses. Difficulty range from easiet to hardest is: Lakes, Creeks, Oaks. I played the Oaks and Creeks this go round. Played Lakes and Creeks last week. They're all in pretty good shape. Greens are well taken care of. I always go twilight or a hot deal around $70 per round like this but if I had to pay the full amount, I would for an early morning tee time on a weekend. Highly reccomend!
Solid choice.
Played Creeks and the Oaks 9’s, all greens were in good shape besides one of the last holes, that had a 4-5sqft spot of burnt/ sandy patch. Layout was nice as always and well worth the trip on a hot deal.
Great Course
Great Course, very well cared for. Challenging and long but not overly difficult. I would definitely play it again if I'm ever in San Antonio.
The course was nice and staff were friendly. It was my first time golfing with my wife for our valentines staycation and the club expectations were exceeded. Only complaint was slow pace of play with the group ahead of us. Beverage cart girls were frequent enough and clubhouse had great food options for lunch.
Go now before the prices rise
This is a legit course and well maintained through the winter. Greens are awesome! I paid $95+ tax to play and it was well worth it. Played Lakes and Creeks (didn't see Oaks). This place will be $50 to $75 more a round once March/April rolls around so now is the time.
