Stunning
First time playing at Blackney, definitely not the last.
Beautiful weather which was a good start.
Pro shop and clubhouse great and staff were lovely.
Practice range, putting green and chipping area perfect
The tee boxes and fairways were in superb condition.
Some greens a little off, but this was explained to us in the pro shop.
We were a four ball, let one 2 ball through. Another 4 ball behind at one stage nearly hit us with one of their drives with no apologies.
Overall, very impressive, beautiful course and setting, we will definitely be back.
Good not great
I have played this course since I was a junior member here in the seventies.
The course is interesting and challenging.
I have issues with some aspects though;
1. The bunkers are lacking decent sand and have many large stones in them. The lack of sand means that playing a proper bunker shot is nigh on impossible.
2. The greens are not good. Whether they will improve during the summer remains to be seen.
3. The tee box on the 7th is a temporary mat but seems quite permanent.
Lovely course at a great price
Played here yesterday on the recommendation of a friend. We were not disappointed. After a friendly welcome in the pro shop we made our way to the first tee. Although the course had recently undergone course maintenance we found it to be in excellent condition. We thoroughly enjoyed the great variety of holes set over gently undulating parkland. The course is a true but fair test for golfers of all abilities. Be sure to visit the traditional clubhouse where you’ll be welcomed to a friendly post round drink. Will definitely book a round here next time we’re in the area.
Easter Monday
Forecast looked good after a stormy weekend. All 4 available so booked for mid day. Course was still on Mats which was a surprise given the weather hadn’t been wet and the clock had changed the week before. Greens had been recently scarified and sanded. They looked worse than they played. A bit slow but ran fairly true.
Fairways were in good shape and the rough wasn’t too long.
Overall a nice course. Long, but a good challenge. Nice views around the surrounding countryside.
Good value.
Blankney
Course is in great condition mid March still using fairway mats but green excellent it will be amazing to play in a couple of weeks when they stop insisting on the fairway mats
Greens?
Course was in good condition considering rain we had....thought winter greens were not...just part of the fairway!....could have leastcrolled them..impossible to putt.better to chip!...dont mind but at least drop tee prices..no discount given
.so spoiled it really
A great round of golf on a mild sunny day.
I found the course in surprisingly good condition considering the recent wet weather. The fairways and bunkers were dry and the greens were really good for the time of year. There were two temporary greens and the second hole was closed during my visit. While this was a bit disappointing I was made aware of this before I booked. The staff in the pro shop were very friendly and helpful and I really enjoyed my round. The course is not the longest but still offers a decent challenge for most golfers.
Fantastic days golf
My golf society played this course yesterday and I have to say we were welcomed by staff and members alike. Probably the most welcoming of the dozens of courses we have played. Given the drought the course was in excellent condition and the greens superb. Special thanks to the Pro for putting up with my regular changes of requirements. Go and play this course, it meets the requirements of all handicaps. Generous fairways but required thoughtful shot selection. GREAT COURSE GREAT PEOPLE
Thank you
Beautiful setting and impressive greens and fairways
Overall excellent course.
Greens were playing fast yesterday and in awesome condition, fairways /bunkers too.
Become our 4 balls favourite course having tried a few different ones of late. Will be coming back on a weekly basis now or even become members.!
Highly recommend this course to anyone. Very helpful and friendly here from green keepers to the bar staff.
Disappointed
Did not live up to expectations. Greens were slow and varied but not good although under good conditions would be challenging.
Flat and not so interesting during the middle part of the course.
