Disappointing

This wasn't our first visit to the course and we've always enjoyed it in the past however this time the condition of the course was a let down. Quite a lot of fairways were already brown and some of them had numerous animal holes all over, some greens were reduced to soil/sand in areas and mostly dead but then others were alive with quite a few daisy grown and glowing in them, then the bunkers were neglected with compressed hard sand again lots of animal holes plant growth in most and large deep piles of leafs in them. It's such a shame as over the past 4 years the condition has always been really good so this was a shock. Unfortunately the app won't upload my photos.

very poor course

The course was unplayable, we walked off after the 12th. the fact they charge £25pp a round is ridiculous. emailed the course to ask about a refund but no reply. will never go again and would advise anyone against going also.

WHAT HAS HAPPENED

DO NOT PAY TO PLAY HERE!!

Greens should be called browns.

They are covered in daisys and weeds.

Bunkers have no sand and are full of weeds.

Pot holes all over the fairways.

Disgrace of a golf course. Youd have more fun playing in a farmers field.

New owners have neglected this course, previous and current members.

Dont waste your money giving it to these frauds!!

A wet may day weekend

Lots of rain the previous night, left the greens wet. Still early in the year and greens not cut or rolled due to weather. Early start and we brought an additional friend, who settled his bill at the end of the course without issue. Breakfast was good. A long course for older folk but a good all round course with water hazards to challenge all.

Don't waste your money

Firstly the two staff members I saw in 5 hours where lovely.

The course is an absolute disgrace.

From branches on the Tee offs to uncut fairways

The greens had as much variation of growing vegetation as the rough, then the other extreme was the dried out brown greens.

So there was a good variation of sadness throughout the day.

In all honesty I've seen better crazy golf.

Please don't waste your money.

If you are going out for a nice 18 you will be so so upset with paying what is essentially a premium for probably the worst 18 holes I've ever seen.

Terrible condition

Played today 26:04/2026 played this course many times and always enjoyed it and thought the course was great. However today it was a complete mess and not worth £25 fee. The fairways were not cut so if you hit one you were struggling to find a ball due to all the daisys . Every bunker was like concrete or a swamp and the greens weren’t cut with daisy’s stoping your putts, they were that hard if you attacked the greens it bounced off a mile. The pins looked like they had not been moved for a few weeks as all around them was dead grass where people had been walking and so compacted. Afterwards went for a drink only for the glasses to be soap stained and when brought up with bar staff was told yeah the dishwasher isn’t working right. Overall very disappointed as I know it can be a very good course. Will be avoiding until they rectify everything.

Course could be better

Disappointed with the course conditions, greens were good but bunkers had weeds in with broken rakes and little or no sand, fairways could have done with mowing, not worth the money paid.

A Slip In Standards

Having previously been a member of Messingham Grange, I was quite looking forward to a round again at the course. The first thing you noticed was that the fairway grass was very long, more what you would expect from rough. This was the case on all 18 holes.

The main issue I had was with the bunkers. Many had plants growing in them, no sand or full of water. In the end we just decided they were ground under repair as they were so bad. I did have a little chuckle to myself on one hole when I found a rake for a bunker that had absolutely no sand.

Overall the course was poor and the standards have definitely dropped in the last few years. Pay a little extra and play somewhere else.

Avoid!

We’ve played Messingham quite a lot over the last couple of years but this place is going down hill fast! Not played here for a few months until today and definitely won’t go back!

Course quality is now shocking which is a shame as it has potential!

Fairways haven’t been cut in god knows how long, they were easily 3-4 inches long! Greens were full of weeds, mainly daisies and the bunkers were an absolute joke! Full to the top of water or last autumns leaves, the ones where you could see sand they were full of branches. Walked off after 6 holes, wasn’t worth even trying to play it. Wish I’d have taken photos to show how bad it is.

Course not looked after although playable for an amateur

I visited with my Dad and we are both amateurs. For us the course was playable though clearly not looked after. We were told by another player that the greenkeepers haven’t been out for 3 months and this was noticeable by the long grass on the fairways and daisies growing from the greens. Although, the greens were playable and for us it didn’t make too much difference though l could see how it would affect a better player.

Shocking course

Absolutely awful. It was like playing in a farmer's field the grass was that long. Weeds and rabbit holes everywhere. Fallen branches threaten to trip you up. The Greens have daisies actually flowering on them it's been so long since they have been cut. Every bunker is out of play which is just as well as they are either full of water, leaves or rabbit burrows. Go somewhere else.

Not the course it used to be

Sadly the course has gone somewhat downhill over the last year. The fairways are in a poor condition and even a cut would help improve them. The greens are ok but the tee boxes are very poor and the bunkers were unplayable. I appreciate the course is low lying and seems to hold a lot of water but it never used to impact so much when playing here. A lot of money seems to have been spent on the club house and the “static caravan” site but this appears not to be the case with the golf course itself. I know it was a bank

holiday but there wasn’t a green keeper in sight.

Worst course I have played

I used to be a member of this course a few years ago and it was always well maintained. I played it last September and I was disappointed with the course conditions and lack of maintenance. I played it today 6th April and it was horrendous conditions. None of the fairways had been cut and every bunker was rock hard and unplayable. What a shame. There was no one working on the course. I will never play this course again. Stay well clear of this course.

WOW absolute garbage

I have played this course 35-40 times but not for 5 years or so, booked on for a 4 Ball & was really disappointed, course was awful, bunkers full of water or leaves or both, no fairways cut, branches all over place, spoke to a member who said all green staff had been moved to help with cabins so not been on course for months apart from cutting greens(which were good), won't be back again absolute waste of £22, dog track

Messingham Grange

Played on Sunday 1/3/26 and only got round 3 holes as course was that wet it should not have been open.

I have played there many times and it is a really nice course but since all the rain we have had they should not be taking money so was a waste of time and money playing there until it dries out .

Fully open and played well in mid February

No temporary greens today on the enjoyable, slightly forward winter tees. Greenkeepers have done a good job over winter and the fairways are trim and compact as best you can expect this time of year. Bodes well for Spring.

Usually nice course

Usually nice course, spoiled by temp greens. I understand sometimes temp greens are necessary due to weather conditions but it was literally just a hole in the rough on some holes. Pretty much pointless even putting on a couple of occasions. The greens that were open were still nice.
