Superb Golf Course
I have played a few times now it's my favourite local course, the greens were fast but true and the staff in the pro shop always super helpful look forward to the next time.
Poor
Scabby, untidy course. Needs water, greens dry and firm.
Sad
Such a shame where the course is from the last time I played in 2022. Only being down the road In Cleethorpes we know travelling to Holme hall is a banker of a good day out, or it was. I wouldn’t pay £18 to play there now never mind £38. Not sure if what’s happened at the steel works has taken effect. No clear fair way, weeds all over the tees, fairways, bunkers. Grass kept short so no fairway or rough, greens have got years work to get them back. We all said that we would be shocked if it was open within the year, could see new drainage everywhere but not seeded, marked GUR, and didn’t see one ground staff. Such a shame as it’s a great course, but sadly, it’s got a lot of work to get back to its best.
OK but far from the best in the area
Greens in fairly good condition, as were the fairways. The rough and everything else is quite unkempt. Recent drainage works show some moved earth as expected. Could be a lot better in 2027.
Four ball
There had been a lot of maintenance works and the fairways were a bit rough and very patchy. Greens were not too bad but again had recent maintenance.
Pace of play was a little slow, we said we would play again but maybe late summer if it’s on a hot deal.
Staff were great and friendly
Great golf course !!!
Greens were superb!!, my son loved his round there , staff friendly and a great day
Holme Hall, Scunthorpe
Excellent course in dry conditions for the time of year. Good layout and excellent greens. The staff we dealt with were lovely although due to time we didn’t go into the bar afterwards so couldn’t comment on the off-course amenities
Great course, great condition, friendly staff
First time playing this course and I can say it was a pleasure, played on the 29th December and the condition was spot on, no temporary greens, no temporary tees, no fairway mats, although these are optional I did read on the way to the first. At the time of playing, it appears they’re installing fairway irrigation on every hole, so the place is only going to improve. Playing as a 1 ball I did expect to get held up, however, following a 3 ball for the last 8 holes and not even a sniff of being let through was slightly disappointing, not sure if they were members or other visitors, either way, nothing against the course or the venue. I’ll definitely be visiting again.
Excellent course
The course is amazing the greens true, challenging and fast played this course 3 times now and it's a pleasure to play, the pro shop super helpful look forward to the next time
Fantastic greens
Most tee boxes were fine , the greens were fantastic . Barely any grass on the fairways , but that will be the time of year and lack of rain
Worth a visit
Nice course, with a variety of different type of holes and shots (more strategic off the tees than a huge drive was needed).
Greens as expected this time of year.
Lots of bunkers on most of the holes (good sand in them).
All four of us felt that the course was not too challenging (we used the white tees - the yellow would have made the course very short).
Round was slowish due to a golf society (well they were all dressed the same !) having a number of four-ball groups in front of us, and they were playing f from the black tees).
We will return later in the year when the greens have been cut and treated over the summer.
Really enjoyed this course and will be returning within the next few months. We let a 2 ball play through even though they seemed happy to wait. Pace of play was good and course wasn’t over crowded. People need to repair their divots but was still in really good condition
Brilliant condition for early spring many challenging holes and some nice easy parable holes , will definitely return and recommend to others
Frosty round
Almost deserted course so no issues of being held up. Just one hole out due to a frozen green, although they could have created a temporary green to provide a full 18 holes.
Our fist time playing Holme hall golf course and we was impressed with how the course had been maintained . The greens where smooth and well kept . Also it was good to see staff members working on improving the bunkers.
We will be returning 😊
