Pleasant surprise
I’d heard that Normanby was a good course but was always a bit sceptical with it being a municipal course. However I was surprised by it, it was in good condition to say what bad weather we had suffered. Full greens which were in great condition for time of year and the weather. The course was full of interesting holes which took some thought.
Thoroughly enjoyed our round and will be back, hopefully when the clubhouse is open.
Brilliant challenging course
Really enjoyed the course layout and conditions. Got playing for a great price and will enjoy it even more in better weather next year.
Warm Welcome and a Great Challenge
For a beginner or high handicapper this is the perfect level of challenge without being completely out of reach for those new to the game.
Course in a great condition considering the time of year, and the food in the clubhouse was good value and hit the spot after 18 at Normandy Hall.
Great to be out there, playing again
I am a big fan of Normandy Hall golf course. This is a municipal course but if that turns you off you a kissing a terrific challenge and all in all a wonderful course. There may be courses with prettier bunkers and some with more lush fairways but if you want a fair challenge of where your club game is at, there are few courses that better fit your need than Normandy Hall
This was the first time I played the course in over 10 years. Always challenging I felt the course was in very good. Condition for the autumn. Didn’t check out the club house because of social distancing and the pro shop was operating a safe 1 in 1 out policy. Had a fine afternoon all considered.
Excellent
Highly recommended great course some really nice holes can get tricky if wayward off the tee
New players evident
course a bit dry.
Bunkers (many of em) pick and place due to covid.
Course very full even teeing off 15.00 (dark at 19.00)
Good challenge.
Normandby, a nice suprise
Normandby Hall, tucked away on the edge of a country park, several miles from anything really. Great welcome from the Pro, one way system in operation, straight on the tee, not held up once (12.28) nothing to memorable about the course just a really fair test of golf, in a lovely setting and in very good condition, fairways quite lush and greens in good order, As with many courses the bunkers let it down, not much sand and they were compacted, although they were all the same. the course is having some drainage work done so I wonder if it may get a bit soggy come the winter. Definately worth the £18.50 we paid today.
Excellent condition & great value
Booked a round as it’s only up the road but for some reason I’d never played there. I seem to remember hearing rumours that it wasn’t that good some years back but immediately on arrival I was impressed. This is an exceptionally well maintained course and great value too. Looking forward to my next round.
The course seems to improve each time we return.
We returned to play at Normanby after lockdown, mainly due to the fantastic cost of just £10 (after 3) and at first although still great value it was clear to see why, there were a few groups with absolutely no course etiquette and the course wasn’t in the best condition, including rubbish being left around the place (absolutely no excuse by anyone!) and the course looked/played like it was clear to see why it was cheaper than all of the other courses in the area.
Since the first return after lockdown (I used to be a member here by the way many moons ago), the course us just got better and better and really is a pleasure to play. Not sure what’s changed (possibly the pubs opening?) but the course is really in great condition and it is a pleasure to play.
Fantastic work by the team. I’m not one to leave reviews but I believe it really deserves a good one, I wouldn’t have left a good one a few months ago but this really has improved and looks great.
Great effort by the team. Keep it up.
What a lovely course!
Considering this is a council owned municipal course, I think it has to be one of the best in the country.
I'd not played it before but I will certainly be playing it again. It's a long course and personally, I didn't take any woods, which proved to be a good call!
Sat in a picturesque parkland, with squirrels and rabbits admiring your game, the course is long, the greens were good and although the fairways had recently had some work done to them, the course played very well.
We didn't get chance to pop into the clubhouse, due to finishing late but after chatting to course regulars, the food is suppose to be very good.
Finally, the pro shop is well stocked, with some bargains to be had and staffed by two cracking chaps,
If you haven't played the course, I would certainly suggest you give it a try!
Normanby hall
what a beautiful course i would recommend everyone try it
Great course
As a relatively new player it offered a lot to think about and was challenging but was still a very enjoyable experience. Greens were immaculate and the food after was exactly what you want after a round of golf!
Value for money
Played this course 15/Aug/20, excellent describes the course and the pace of play, Greens 1st Class, its a must and will be played again in the not too distant future.
Excellent course
The course was in excellent condition and the greens were quite fast. It was great value for the money.
