Golfer Reviews
Perfect day for a round
I haven't played the course in three years and not a lot has changed. The greens that don't get a lot of sun and wind are marginal at best(I.e no grass, black spots, weeds etc) as compared to those out in the open. The edges of the fairways have a lot of rocks and bare dirt. The worst of all is the cart paths, they are a hazard to drive on. The fairways though are in very good condition. I see the ground crews working very hard at their job. The chipping and putting greens are in great shape. The driving range could use new practice balls that don't look like they were scooped out of the lake. Who ever owns the club needs to put some serious money into it . I will play the course again because I enjoy golf.
Bad timing
I like the layout but like many courses in the Atlanta area, greens are burned up and the areas around cart paths and in the first cut are bare and hard. I’ll wait until next year to try it again.ATL
Lost a few greens
This course has always had fantastic greens but they lost a few of them in a few areas…..mostly on the back . Fairways were Great! The rough was nice but thick and penal! A few times I wanted to cry as it was pretty sad. The front greens were pretty good but the finish was pretty bad. Still love this course and can’t wait for the overseeded greens again!!
Green fee, but no greens
The green fee is way too high for the condition of the greens on this course. Hole 10 is the worst, but there are maybe 2 greens on the course in half decent condition.
Cow pasture
Very disappointed greens bad most tee boxes are bad fairways ok. Bunkers sad. I played there many years ago and it was just as bad as before. Sad part it cost 45.00 that’s more than a few courses over in Gwinnett. The pace of play was great no one in front or back
Average conditions
Did rain heavy not before, but conditions are not good!
Already a tough course with rough being almost unplayable and greens below average. Got stuck in middle of cart path with cart saying we were off the course and to back up. Had to call office!! Staff could certainly be more friendly!
Awesome job
Had a great time and the service was great will definitely book again
Great potential but not a great experience
I played a full 18 here and wasn’t very impressed. A lot of the fairways weren’t even cut, so you were punished for landing shots in the fairway because it was essentially buried like it would be in the rough. Lots of dead spots on the greens. Driving range looked like an afterthought. The turn doesn’t show up until after the 10th hole, and when I tried to go get some drinks at the clubhouse, I stood there for 10 minutes and was ignored by staff sitting in the back staring at me. That being said, the layout is great and, with proper maintenance, this place has potential to be a great place to play for a fairly decent price. As it sits now though, it’s not worth the price, especially the membership price. It’s around 1500 a year for a membership, but stonebridge in Rome, GA is 1200 a year for their top tier membership and is leaps and bounds better maintained than this place.
Could Be So Great, But It Just Isn’t
The course layout is challenging and forces a player to be accurate and use their whole bag. It’s probably the cheapest show in town. Those are about all the good qualities.
The range is scraggly overfilled with sand. That also describes many of the tee boxes, which have been reduced to sand traps in some cases. Fairways have raw, bear clay in abundance, so your lie on a good shot may punish you. Several greens have patches of mud/dirt where grass should be. And the carts have the most obnoxious geo-fencing software that govern where you drive and how fast. The carts often keep you from driving forward on the cart paths because the software tweaks out, so you have to reverse then advance.
Finally, the pace of play both times I’ve been on Creekside has been unmonitored and slowest I’ve encountered in GA. Any foursome playing loud music and making you wait 3-5 minutes every shot belongs on a Carnival cruise, not a golf course. Allowing that kind of riff-raff on a golf course shrinks the game and is bad for golf.
The course is a terrible layout, not to mention not very well groomed fairways last weekend. I played there and left a rangefinder when I returned there this weekend when I realized I did not have it. The court guy said to go to the front desk. I asked the front desk and he pointed to a box with a $20 sign on it. I asked him so you just sold my rangefinder and he said yes.
Course in good shape
Greens still a bit sandy from aeration, but in excellent shape and rolled true. Tee boxes a little wanting in places, but not a huge deal.
Bad Shape
Course is in bad shape for peak season. Tee boxes closed, bare spots galore, and bumpy greens. Cart Path Only on a dry day with an extremely sensitive cart GPS added to the woes. Holes are far apart on a busted path.
Fairways weren't fair
Serious issues with green,,, several fairways were in bad shape. Worst ones we've seen.
Good Layout/Terrible Condition
Always loved the layout of this course but it is in terrible shape. Tee boxes just sand. Fairways in fair at best conditions. Greens were ok. Groups jumping from hole to holes jumping in front of us and other groups even though we were keeping up pace of play. There is a reason we call it the hillbilly course. It is out of our rotation of courses unfortunately.
Just ok
The pace of play was extremely slow. The fairways were a bit rough. Greens were in decent shape. They also messed up my starting tee time by 10 minutes. Another group said the same thing happened to them.
