Expected conditions for this time of year
Typical late winter / early spring course conditions for Georgia. The green complexes are looking much better than they did last time I played even though they were fairly recently punched and sanded.
Pretty Sad
I was disappointed to see how this course has been neglected, I can’t imagine ever coming back to play it again.
Good Course, Needs Time
First time playing The Frog after hearing great reviews. Conditions weren't as great as I expected, but I was able to talk to the new management. They told me that they just purchased the property 2 months ago, and their plans of restoring the course is underway. Apparently, this new management company purchases distressed properties and restores them to their potential. I assume this will come at a higher green fee when it's all said and done.
If you don't mind some patchy greens, poor bunkers, and preferred lies in the fairway, try out The Frog at a discount now. This course has potential and I have no doubt that the new management company will restore this course.
Wow. What happened?
Played on Thursday 2/23 off of a hot deal for 43 bucks. Was excited to play until I got here. The Frog has gone downhill considerably from what is used to be. Several greens had weeds or dead spots. Most of the bunkers were thin or washed out. The area has seen some weather of late so I get conditions aren’t going to be pristine but man this isn’t what it used to be. An oasis turned to something less desirable. It was still a fun round but cart path only made it longer.
I’ve read some reviews about a Marshall being rude. Unfortunately I broke the cart path only rule for the day on 18. I drove across to get my sons ball. We both were tired and thirsty. No beverage cart and coolers on holes were empty I might add. I was asked if I knew it was cart path only and replied that I was aware and then was accused of getting in the marshals face when I commented back that I did drive across. I could tell he wasn’t up for an explanation. Maybe if they were that concerned about it they should get at least 1 marshall driving the course to cut down on it to keep the course in better shape. I’ll be back at some point but left today with a little less view of the Frog. I sure hope they get this place back on track to what it used to be for the area.
Gone Downhill
I have played this course 3 times now and this is the first time I’ve played it in about 12 years. I was so disappointed at how far downhill it has gone. It used to be known for pristine, bunkers and true greens. I don’t know if it was because it is in the winter, but the course was in extremely rough shape. Most of the bunkers barely had sand in them, and the greens were all kinds of messed up. Do not spend your money on this until there is confirmation that the course has been vastly improved. Truly disappointed and sad, grew up in the area and this was the best course around. Now I wouldn’t pay 40 bucks to play here.
The Frog
This is my 6th time playing The Frog and I have to admit that this will most likely be my last time playing in the Winter/Offseason months. To be transparent we did experience a big rainstorm a few days before I played the course and overall it was reasonably dry. There were a few spots where you could feel and see parts of the fairway somewhat saturated from the last rain.
Check-in was quick and efficient. Bryce checked me in and let me know that it was Cart Path only for the day and was very helpful in alerting me that the pace of play may have slowed down a little. Grabbed the key to the cart and a bag of range balls to warm up.
The starter alerted me and my playing partner to approach Hole 1 and off we went. Overall the Fairways were dry but you could see where the grass had washed up on the Fairway and in some shots, your ball would sit above or below your feet.
Now once you were on the Greens this is where I was not pleased with a lot of Divots on the Greens that weren't repaired and just patchy spots on the Greens. The Putts didn't roll smoothly but were rather bumpy on the way to the cup.
We had a couple of very slow 4somes in front of us and no Ranger to help keep the pace of play consistent. A slower Pace of Play, Bumpy/Patchy/Divot filled Greens and subpar Fairways led to a less-than-impressive Round. Also not to mention that for many of the Bunkers, we saw, Sand was missing and you could see where the Rain pretty much washed the Sand out of the Bunkers or made them hard as a Rock.
If they improve in those areas The Frog will be back to its normally good condition. Will I play it again, maybe on my way to RTJ but I won't be making any special trips to Villa Rica just to play The Frog. I will exercise some optimistic patience and hopefully, the Course Super will make things right.

Fun Track
Fun course to play with decent practice facilities. Driving range has very little grass on it right now. Winter condition I suppose. Golf carts are in good shape. The greens could use some work. A lot of dead spots on the greens right now. Fairways were in pretty good shape. I'll be back.
Major improvements
Played here about 6 months ago. The new owners are making major strides and the greens are improving dramatically. I don't know what they are doing but it's working. Best layout of a course it's so much fun. From the long hilly par 5 to the narrow hit par 3. Keep up the good work.only problem is let it know be, that golf etiquette still exist. Let people play through if they are waiting on you.
Decent course
Husband and I decided to take advantage of an overcast Monday to get a practice round in and were pleased it was not busy (although not a typical day for the course). Fairways were in ok shape but the course could use some TLC. Staff was friendly. Some holes are cart path only which can be annoying but overall can’t complain for the experience we had.
Niceish course
I and my wife played this course yesterday 1/30/23. We got in on a hot deal on a cloudy/ misty Monday. The staff inside the club house was extremely friendly and made us feel welcomed. However I am really glad we got to play under a Hot Deal because the course needs some love. The tee boxes are good. The fairways were ok for winter golf, but the greens and sand traps could really use an overhaul especially when asking $60 a person.
Great spot
Beautiful spot. Great layout. Without golf pass deal of the day it is a bit pricey. Course was real wet so it was cart path only but it was very easy course to navigate quickly on foot. Can’t wait to play in the spring time when everything is in bloom and green.
Course needs love
The Frog used to be one of the better values in Metro Atlanta. I was surprised/disappointed with the shape of the course. Most bunkers had virtually no sand and the greens were full of dead spots. Multiple holes had drainage issues. The pace of play was so bad we didn't even finish our round.
The course still has great bones and apparently it's just been purchased and is going to be restored. Time willl tell, I guess.
Don’t listen to other reviews lol
Only 2 (1 and 2) of the greens weren’t great, the others were nearly perfect. The pace of play was awful, and it was 6 hours long. The course layout was great. I really liked it just watch out for tik tokers. Don’t listen to the other reviews, come here!!
