Favorite public track in Atlanta without question. I've seen better conditions here but it's been incredibly dry this spring and it has held up better than most public courses. Dry conditions made it more challenging, but still more than fair. Fairly getable par 5s that still require you to hit the shot it asks for. Par 3s and 4s that require every club in the bag. Proper and fair test for sure. I need to make an effort to get out here more.
Great Value and possibly the hardest 18th hole in Georgia
West Pines might be the best value in the metro Area. They invested in the green complexes and the rest of the course is in excellent condition. It has a few quirky holes, but once you play a few times you get the hang of it. The 18th may be the hardest finishing hole in public golf. A slightly uphill par 3. From the blues, it can play over 200 yards. From the tips, even longer. Highly recommended.
Really Enjoyed it!
You can tell they work to keep the course nice. My First time playing West Pines and I will be back. A good blend of wide open fairways and well placed hazards. I’m recently returned to golf from a 25+ year hiatus and I’ve got a lot of work to do but this was a great course to get a little of everything.
Nice course with an odd layout
This was a nice course but it does have an odd layout where the turn from 9 to 10 is not at the clubhouse, the course just continues.
The back nine is also oddly laid out where it starts (10th) and ends (18th) with a par 3.
The course was in very good condition but the odd layout for the back nine stops it from being rated 5 stars, despite that, it is still a nice course to play.
Excellent
Greens are always in excellent condition year round. Fairways are in the latter stages of transition from being dormant over the winter are coming in great. Tee boxes are in great shape and they are always pleasant in the pro shop.
I had a 9:40 a.m. hot deal time on a Wednesday and played 18 in just under 3 hours.

I really appreciate everything about West Pines. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Plus, they take care of this course.
