Love these courses but.....

I played the Mountain and really like it. I have also played the Lake and enjoy that too. The mountain and lake have two different types of greens; most prefer the lake's greens but they both are usually in good shape. The mountain greens will struggle in the heat. The "BUT" is the but for this course and all courses. The golf courses in the Atlanta area have been overpriced ever since the Scamdemic; some are double the price and there are winter rates and this course started charging for range balls on top of it. On top of all that they don't enforce pace of play and you are out there over 5 hours. This needs to change here and all around the area.

Jim Perry

Had my 1st hole in one, on #8 par 3, 163 yards from the blue tees. That was back when Mirror Lakes Golf Course was under Canengate ownership. I still love the Course,, but the fairways needed work. Also the Greens were slow. Hopefully by mid June and July, the fairways will be lush again. Thank You

Pins

Absolutely ridiculous pin placements ruined what would have otherwise been an enjoyable round of golf.

What happen??

Wow, we decided to review Mirror lake Course on the West side of Atlanta since it’s been a 4 years and the course has definitely changed some for the good but mostly not.

#1 First thing we noticed was the cart paths a better than before but still pretty rough for a $$$$ Course maybe expected at a lower tiered Course and will beat you up throughout the day.

#2- Traps. The last time we were there reviewing the course the traps although freshly renovated were fantastic maybe a little fluffy but now we noticed that many have had sand removed since they use riding equipment and it seems to do a decent job but the staff has little knowledge how to use these machines and we personally witnessed the staff going at NASCAR speed while grooming which cause sand to spray out of the traps and dragged out so be aware if using nice clubs.

#3 the greens, the last time we were there they were good average speed and honestly this time about the same and we played both courses. Lake seemed a little ragged on top like the needed rolled or get a fresh cut which we do not think happened that day. We were disappointed with the cups cause it seemed that the pin locations hadn’t been changed in 2-3 days cause the holes were no longer regulation size and pretty beat up.

#4 the fairways, here’s a big change since we were there. The Course has not addressed run off or erosion and the Course is paying for it with bare spots, rocks and roots. With our experience over the years if this isn’t addressed promptly there will be no getting back without major funding. Around most greens the fringe was in poor shape either dead, had fungus, held water causing rot but not easy to chip on or putt.

#5 The tee boxes. We have to say for the amount of $$$$ the Course charges for a round the tee boxes are some of the worst we’ve seen in metro Atlanta as a whole. The lack of sun and airflow are obvious since most boxes have no grass or very little and it seems they don’t move the tee markers and that is leading to over use of areas.

#6 Staff and restaurant. The staff mostly very nice from check in to the first tee including the starters which were very informative. Pace of play was tough that day and we didn’t see any Marshalls as a side point. The restaurant was another huge change from the previous review, barely had any staff for a weekend, food was expensive for the quality and the environment was very average and although recently painted they chose colors from the 90’s which made it almost nauseating to look at. ( including the pro shop).

#7 Membership. Although we weren’t able to talk to the membership director we ask the staff and a few members concerning prices, tier levels and benefits and again noticed a change not so much for the good. We learned the prices for a monthly Membership has increased, cart fees are the highest in the area, no longer do members get food discounts, no perks like free/discounted guest rates for the year, basically no benefits except golf. No senior membership which is odd to us when compared to other courses in the area, members complained to us about now they are no longer Private which explains how crowed it was on the course…..

Losing the Private membership tag appeared very disappointing to members and frankly affected our review.

We were told the course is under new Ownership and Management which has done some good but for a $$$$ Course it’s still under par.

So as an overview, course is good condition could be a lot better and has gotten a little worse in 4 years, membership structure needs help offering Single player tier, senior tier and family. Memberships are on the expensive side when compare to what you get. Restaurants is in need of an overhaul possibly lease it out to a professional.

Thanks

One of Atlanta’s Gem

I love both Mirror Lake Courses (Lake and Mountain). Course is in pretty good shape for this time of year. Unfortunately, it was cart-path only because of the recent rain in the area. The greens were in excellent shape. Fairways were pretty wet (muddy). Great layout. I’ll be back to pay it again soon.

Good conditions for winter

Overall great day! Best practice areas around!! Range, chipping area and multiple putting areas.

Some tee boxes are rough on Mountain, but it’s also winter time.

Downward Trajectory

Greens fees higher. Quality of course (tee boxes and greens, specially) and amenities going down. Now charge extra for what used to be free range balls. Just abusing wallets now

One of the best around by FAR!

Had a 7:03 tee time with a couple friends, never been here before and i was blown away with this place. The young lady in the pro shop was super friendly, the starter at the first tee was very helpful on making sure we knew where we were going. The course is in PHENOMINAL shape! I have played a lot of courses in this area and this is by FAR the best hands down! Extremely well maintained, greens rolled true, fairways were great as well as approaches! Definatley will be back like i said its worth the money if you want to have a good round of golf on a meticulously maintained course go here!👍

Fantastic

Course was immaculate, staff friendly and helpful. First time playing the mtn course, accuracy off the tee is a must and 3 holes which require a lay up off the tee if you hit the intended spots pretty easy to score but if you’re a spray and pray off the tee it’ll be a long 18 as there are several tight fairways. The greens were in nice condition except for a lot of areas where no one has fixed their divots! Greens are pretty slow so you can give it a good rap unless you’re in the wrong position on one of their many slopes. Overall a very enjoyable course.

PSA:

If you plan on joining this club, ask for the member benefits in writing because there isn’t much the club is offering. This place is pretty much a muni now. It’s overly crowded and GolfNow fees are cheaper than member fees and guest fees. Also the greens are often slow and terrible and so are 5 hour rounds.

Not worth the money

Greens on the front 9 were some of the worst I’ve ever seen and they were only slightly better on the back. Played as a twosome on the weekend with a threesome and foursome in front of us. We weren’t complaining about pace of play but the Marshall had a stick up his you know what and was rushing everyone. Felt bad for the guys in front of us because they were forced to play faster than anyone should. On top of all this, when I booked the tee time it said the price was 82. When we got there, they charged us 112. Thought with the price it’s got to be a nice course, but in reality it’s a regular neighborhood course with terrible greens and arrogant employees that obviously think they’re course is cream of the crop.
