Squirrel Run Country Club
About
Squirrel Run Golf Club offers some of the most scenic golf on the South Shore of Boston. The course is an executive layout that is gentle enough for beginners and even juniors to tackle with confidence. There are no par 5s on the golf course, most of the holes are under 140 yards. Even though you may not need distance, a strong short game will take you far on this course. Rough borders the fairways and there are a few strategically placed bunkers framing the greensides. Squirrel Run Golf Club is a very forgiving golf course overall and it may not be the most formidable test but there are a few tricky holes, like the par-3 13th. This is the golf course's signature hole that plays from an elevated tee over water to a green that slopes from back to front, and if that wasn't enough, the entire hole is at the mercy of the prevailing winds.

Golfer Reviews
Good Executive Course
Squirrel Run is a well run Par 3 plus course.
The staff is great and helpful if needed.
The greens are well cared for and have improved all season. The fairways fit the course nicely.
A few of the tee boxes are small and get beat up from lots of play, but all and all it's a fun golf course.
Not worth it
First time playing this mostly par 3 course that had good reviews. I strongly disagree. The tee are torn up and not well mowed. The fairway and some of the greens have bare spots. The greens are ok but very slow. The worst was the pace of play. The front 9 took about 3 hours on a Monday mid day. Had to quick after suffering through the slow pace. Waited for 1 or 2 groups in front on every tee. (a 6-hour round on Monday on a par 3 course just doesn’t cut it).
Pace of play
We booked 18 and played the first 9 without incident. On the 10 th hole there were 2 groups and the starter came along and said we played too quickly and there’s a tournament on the back nine that just starting?! Since we booked through GN we couldn’t get a refund and didn’t get to finish our 18 holes. I wish they had told us about the tournament. They gave us a nine hole voucher but we are visiting from Florida.
Warm day on the course
Course conditions are improving. Early season brown spots on some of the greens have filled in nicely. The fairways are also looking better.
The staff at Squirrel Run is always great.
Slow pace of play today
The staff as usual was friendly and efficient. My group tee'd off a little later than our scheduled tee time.
We backed up at the 3rd hole thru 8th hole. Fortunately the group holding us up stopped after 9 holes.
Many of the greens had been aerated, hopefully greens will be better soon. I wish tee boxes were in better shape, they're small with not many options for the maintenance crews.
I enjoy Squirrel Run and think it's a fun layout to work on your short game.
