Another Great Round
Still playing back 9 twice, but course was in great shape. Love this course!
Tight course with fantastic greens
In spite of only having the back 9 open this was a great little course. I’m not one to always keep it in the fairway so this was very challenging. The fairways were in great shape with some minor damaged areas as expected. The greens were tough to read with plenty of movement. We got backed up later in the day but before noon it was fast pace of play and we were only a twosome. Id recommend this course as it’s challenging and this area needs our support in the aftermath of Helene. Hopefully the front will open soon.
Great to see it back
The condition of the back nine, which is the only nine that is open, isn’t terrific shape. My only complaint is where the tea box was placed on hole 14. It is on the left-hand side with not a lot of fairway to hit the ball. There’s a lot of overgrowth shrubs that really need to be cut down to give you an opportunity to hit to the right hand side of the fairway. All in all it is a great with the back nine open. Hopefully the front nine opens soon. Fifth hole I am told needs a new bridge and the fairway is torn up for a retention pond.
Black Mountain golf course
Unfortunately, they only have nine holes open at this time after the hurricane, but it’s a great place to play in interesting holes
Above average muni
June 2026 still playing back 9 only, twice. Hopefully front 9 gets up soon. It's a town owned facility so things get fixed incredibly slowly. Looks like hole 5 on the front is getting a pond. Before returning into service. I do like the variety of holes on this course,
I'll be Back
First time playing this course on a trip to Asheville and I'll back the next time I am in the area. It cost $38 to walk this course on a lovely Friday afternoon. The front nine was still closed due to hurricane damage but the front nine looks about ready to re-open. So, I played the back nine twice, which I knew upfront and was ok with this routing because a couple of the holes made more sense the second time around.
The layout features a very long 17th hole and a dramatically up-hill closer. An interesting lay-out overall and the conditions were very good for early May. The scenery is lovely and the staff friendly.
My only complaint was a very slow foursome for the first go around, which was greatly mediated by joining two delightful regulars for the final four holes. You know that it was a good day when a somewhat slow 9 holes was the only negative.

Golf
It was really cold so that wasn’t their fault but it diminished the experience. The course still needs to open the first nine holes, but the back nine was an interesting layout. The guy in the pro shop was really helpful and friendly. This summer when the front nine is open it should be good to play.
Great views at this course
The course is always in good shape of the people in the clubhouse are awesome. The views are amazing. Definitely recommend this course.
Good Mountain Course
Good mountain course. Fairways are a little tight and sloped in spots. Greens are a little smaller and challenging to read in spots. Mishits can be more penal, but overall they did a good job with the area they had and the staff was cool. Back nine only until they can re-open the front nine sometime in 2027.
Saturday at Black Mountain
Had a good time as usual, course is getting better, but still nothing growing because it’s been cold.
For being the end of the winter, the course is in great shape. Staff extremely friendly. And it was great to see the grill back open. Just wished they could get the front nine open.
This course is terrible do not waste your money.
If you want a ride staff and a terrible course that over charges then by all means play here, or go down to silver creek and play for better price and people, black mountain is awful
I don’t know what this guy is talking about. Black Mountain is classic mountain golf, played on a historic 1929 Donald Ross course with beautiful views in a woodland park setting. I’ve played here a dozen times and all of the staff has always been friendly and professional, even the other players are courteous and patient. The greens roll true, at a 9-10 stimp, and the fairways and tee boxes are in great condition. This guy should keep going past Silver Creek and go to Florida with the rest of the whiners.
Fairways could use some work
Greens were in fairly good shape with some bad spots. Lots of fairway divots. Seems to be still under repair from the Hurricane. Only 9 holes are open.
I meant to say the back nine is in great shape. Not that it isn’t in great shape. If you are in fhe area, go play the course.
