The action at the Pocono Raceway in Long Pond, Pa., heats up in June as the summer schedule kicks into high gear. The Party in the Poconos 400, a NASCAR Sprint Cup race set to run June 9, was named after a fan vote sponsored by Walmart. The Pocono Indycar 400 on July 7 and the Gobowling.com 400 Aug. 2-4 are the other two blockbuster events on the schedule. A warning to golfers: Gearheads love teeing it up. It's wise to book early, although there are plenty of options at other local golf resorts.
Three themes permeate throughout the Shawnee Inn & Golf Resort: its history, its golf and its environment. It's not elaborate, modern facilities that attract guests to Shawnee, it's the stunning setting in the Pocono Mountains on the shores of the Delaware River, coupled with 27 holes of golf spread over three courses.

The Delaware River is both the best friend and worst enemy of the Shawnee Inn and Golf Resort. The riverfront provides a scenic, peaceful setting for Shawnee Inn guests, who get to play a historic A.W. Tillinghast course. But floodwaters have ravaged the course. Each time, however, the course has bounced back.
George Washington and his army crossed the Delaware River three times during the Revolutionary War in 1776. Can you do it twice with two confident golf swings on the same day? The Shawnee Inn and Golf Resort crosses the Delaware two times, and 24 of the resort's 27 holes reside on an island in the middle of the Delaware River.
