About
Although it is tucked away just north of Hampstead, Castle Bay Country Club will make you feel as though you've been transported to the British Isles. The golf course offers an authentic Scottish-links design that incorporates the natural wetlands of its coastal Carolina location, giving it a truly unique character. The landscape of rolling dunes is covered with native grasses but completely devoid of trees. Tall sand bunkers are strategically placed throughout and there are also expansive waste areas, both characteristics that are true to its links nature. Water hazards come into play on several holes as well. Accurate shot placement is the key to doing well on this course and just like any seaside links layout, the coastal breezes play a prominent role. Much of the difficulty of the golf course comes from negotiating with the prevailing winds.

Great condition
The staff has done a great job keeping the course in excellent condition over the winter, and this early spring. The course gets a lot of traffic, but the crew have managed the course properly, to keep it in good shape. 100% recommend, but don't take my tee time. 😁
Nice course with a friendly staff. The speed of play was poor (4:20) despite holes being open to the foursome in front of us. No ranger in evidence.
Hole 12, a quasi-island par-3 was the the most challenging hole. The green is crowned with the apron extending down the sides of the green. Tee shots with any roll are not held by the green and pick up speed as they cross down the apron. The rough below the apron is not long enough to prevent the balls from entering the water.
Another Windy Day at Castle Bay
It’s always Windy at Castle Bay, but it is one of the better public courses in the area. Always a good time and the course is in great shape even with all the play it gets.
Perfect for the money
Perfect for the money. Most greens were in great shape..busy day when I went. So pace was a little slow.
Overall in very good shape. You should limit it to cart path only when it's wet.
Also would help if a Marshall would help keeping the pace of play up. Too many groups lagging behind the group in front of them.
