About
Although it is tucked away just north of Hampstead, Castle Bay Country Club will make you feel as though you've been transported to the British Isles. The golf course offers an authentic Scottish-links design that incorporates the natural wetlands of its coastal Carolina location, giving it a truly unique character. The landscape of rolling dunes is covered with native grasses but completely devoid of trees. Tall sand bunkers are strategically placed throughout and there are also expansive waste areas, both characteristics that are true to its links nature. Water hazards come into play on several holes as well. Accurate shot placement is the key to doing well on this course and just like any seaside links layout, the coastal breezes play a prominent role. Much of the difficulty of the golf course comes from negotiating with the prevailing winds.

Good Course
This course is in really good condition for this time of year. The greens are in great shape which I understand were recently put in. There are some temporary tee boxes in place as they have sodded tee boxes for those holes. This links style course is a great play and a change from area courses. So overall it’s gonna be nice to see how this course transitions and how it plays when a greens up.

3 stars for Amenities - Did not utilize
Non-issue but you might have the Pro Shop inform players of the holes where tee boxes are being upgraded.
Another suggestion would be to use the cart electronics to remind players to sand fill divots and repair ball marks on greens. It's a no-brainer for most of us but not all. Renee did a great job and her contact was spaced well; non-issue but good to know.

The course was in pretty good shape in spite of the recent heavy rain. It was cart path only which slowed down the pace of the round but still very enjoyable
Castle Bay in great shape
The greens are fabulous and the best I have played on all over the world. The course is a fun design to play. The only negative is the course holds water bad and is often muddy with a couple of cart path only holes. It is an excellent value for money

They may want to figure out how to eliminate or reduce the huge tractor tire marks around the course.

Nice course,, friendly people
The course was still wet from rains earlier in the week but not sloppy. For the most part 90* rule applied for carts.
Pace of play was a little slow, but the round was completed in a little over four hours.
For most of the holes tee shots are pretty open and you shouldn’t find too much trouble.
A little wet but overall a really good day on the course. Greens are still in very good shape.
