About
Although it is tucked away just north of Hampstead, Castle Bay Country Club will make you feel as though you've been transported to the British Isles. The golf course offers an authentic Scottish-links design that incorporates the natural wetlands of its coastal Carolina location, giving it a truly unique character. The landscape of rolling dunes is covered with native grasses but completely devoid of trees. Tall sand bunkers are strategically placed throughout and there are also expansive waste areas, both characteristics that are true to its links nature. Water hazards come into play on several holes as well. Accurate shot placement is the key to doing well on this course and just like any seaside links layout, the coastal breezes play a prominent role. Much of the difficulty of the golf course comes from negotiating with the prevailing winds.

Don’t rent clubs
Nice and fun course! Don’t rent clubs as they only have old Top Flight clubs.
Always windy here
Great staff, course in good shape, the greens have great grass need to be cut and rolled. Greens were slow. had to putt hard to get close.
Fantastic Day!
The course conditions were great, the staff was very friendly. My only “negative” was this…we bought drinks in the clubhouse before the round and had a couple left over. After the morning round we went into the clubhouse for lunch and the waitress said we couldn’t have those drinks in the restaurant. She wouldn’t even let us set them unopened on the floor. “The clubhouse and beverage cart are different from the restaurant. You can’t have those drinks in here.” We literally had to take them out into the hallway and order the exact same drink from her. Extremely strange but the food was very good, so just an eyebrow raiser.
Great course
Beautiful course. Friendly staff. Very windy and challenging.
Fun to play
A fun day. Course is open and links like which makes it very playable. Par 3’s we’re a challenge. Wasn’t a blustery day but wind was always a factor on the approach shots. Greens were inconsistent, some bumpy, but most were real nice. Bunkers needs some attention. Overall a nice change from the SE NC courses of narrow fairways and marshes. Will be back.
