About
Ironclad Golf and Beer Garden (formerly known as Belvedere Country Club) in Hampstead begins along the Intracoastal Waterway and then moves inland towards the clubhouse. The back nine is routed through tall forests that provide a home to grey heron and osprey. The golf course forms a large figure eight, which means you won't find any parallel fairways, but you will also be faced with wind whipping in every direction. The unique layout consists of six par 3s, seven par 4s, and five par 5s that all place a heavier emphasis on accuracy than distance. Many of the greens are elevated and the fairways are lined with trees. The par 3s are some of the most demanding holes due to their small, narrow greens. They are the toughest greens to hit in regulation but luckily if your placement isn't perfect there are still opportunities to save your score.

A Good Course that Needs Some Maturinh
We were looking for something close to North Topsail Beach on our way to a rental property. The Shaka Taco was not only good food after a several hours drive,. but had a great family atmosphere for kids, parents & golfers! The course is an old Carolina layout that needs a little maturing with all the effort the crew has been putting into it. We had a good time!

Course was a little rough
Tee boxes were a mess. Lot of repairs and minor construction in progress . Was hoping it would be on better shape . Work still progress.
Ironclad improvement
I've played Ironclad 3 different Octobers. It has improved each time. The greens were nice as were the fairways. Tee boxes need some work. The beer is good after the round. The driving range has plenty of targets. Once the clubhouse is built the experience will be much better.
Sunday play
Would like to see singles and twosomes get paired up on Sundays and during peak times, I understand that you want to keep it as loose and fun but it helps with pace of play
Amazing improvement
Played this course in October 2023 and the greens were terrible, the tee boxes hardly had any grass and the driving range was basically just sand.
Fast forward to today September 2024, now it looks like a whole new course!! Beautiful green grass throughout the entire course. Not a bare spot to be spotted! Driving range has a great tee boxes and a big pagoda to sit behind and relax if needed.
Overall, 100% recommend this course over any other course in the Hampstead area

The greens have alot of dead turf on them,but overall the coarse has come a long way for the better!
Great time
I love this course and the staff is awesome
I’ve played this course 3 times now, and this last time it was just very slow paced. It bottled necked and it took very long to play. The groups of 4 should’ve let some play through.
Besides that I will definitely be back.
Relaxing golf
Ironclad continues to improve the course. Enjoyed playing while sipping excellent refreshments.
