Ironclad Golf and Beer Garden
About
Ironclad Golf and Beer Garden (formerly known as Belvedere Country Club) in Hampstead begins along the Intracoastal Waterway and then moves inland towards the clubhouse. The back nine is routed through tall forests that provide a home to grey heron and osprey. The golf course forms a large figure eight, which means you won't find any parallel fairways, but you will also be faced with wind whipping in every direction. The unique layout consists of six par 3s, seven par 4s, and five par 5s that all place a heavier emphasis on accuracy than distance. Many of the greens are elevated and the fairways are lined with trees. The par 3s are some of the most demanding holes due to their small, narrow greens. They are the toughest greens to hit in regulation but luckily if your placement isn't perfect there are still opportunities to save your score.

Work In Progress
Putting a lot of work into course. Getting better every time I play there.
Your course is in a sad state of disrepair
Your Golf course is in a sad state of disrepair. You have 2 Greens that are closed(you should inform players Prior to paying) and several others that should have been. Your Tees are unplayable, your Fairways not much better. Perhaps you should close the course and just focus on your beer garden, as this is clearly where you are spending your money. I would ask for a full refund, but we both know that’s not happening.

6-7th time since it's been ironclad
The course is always improving. They now have 2 holes with temp greens and fresh sod around some of the more drop off greens to help balls stay up a little. Each time I go it gets better. It is a beginner popular place. Little beer shack with 4 or 5 taps, great restaurant with outside area for live music, and a pickles all court. The place stays busy for sure.
On the pace side it's okay. Like I said lots of new golfers go to Ironclad because it's laid back and it's good for the price. So expect maybe 2 or 3 bottleneck spots on the longer holes and esp 9-10.
They do have a ranger now that spoke to a group of four that were learning and did take a while only because it's golf and we all suck at it. That was on 9 and seemed a pleasant interaction and they stopped for food anyways.
I put the layout at 3 because there are some close holes and tee boxes near greens but the design itself is nice.
Tee boxes are like semi rough
Cheap round, good tacos, but they need to mow the tee boxes for the weekends - many had grass so tall it was sprouting seeds.
Two synthetic turf greens remain from last year, while most other greens have improved noticeably. Fairways are much better than last year after the new irrigation. Another 2 years and course will be 4 stars instead of 3. Will need better tee time management/marshals to then get to 5 for the area.
Paid for 18, played 9
Course was in rough shape many greens were temporary, astrturf the size of an area rug. One hole had construction going on and they didn’t stop when we were hitting our approach. All and all wouldn’t go back
Great people and place
I love playing at Ironclad. Fun course with a great atmosphere. Their partnership with Shaka Taco has made them a local hit. This is what all golf courses should try to be like.
Course conditions improving
My wife and I enjoy the layout, food and weekly entertainment and events
Still making improvements
I have played this course several times and plan on returning often. They are getting close to finishing the improvements on the driving range and also throughout the course.
Most of the greens are much improved from last year and the fairways are also looking better. The irrigation system that was installed last year should really help this summer.
Still using a few temporary greens and a few others have spots that need some additional TLC.
BONUS: good cold micro brew after the round!
Overall a good layout and a good place to play.
Improving
Ironclad is a good value,
Having said that, they are making headway to making the course better. There are still a couple of temporary greens and the last few times I’ve played, the driving range was not open, so I had to play without a proper warmup. They are working on it and hopefully will be open soon.
Still Updating
The grass is starting to grow in the fairways and workers are continuing to fill in areas where irrigation lines were installed last year.
The greens are improving as well, even though there are a few temporary greens being used.
If you have not played Iron Clad in a while you will be surprised at all the improvements including work on the driving range as well as cleaning up many areas of the course that have been neglected for years.
Kudos to the management team for their efforts.
