Needs a refreshing
Course seems tired. Stop cutting down trees and work on the course.
18 @ CSGC
Because of the mountainous environment, this course can be a good challenge to your skills, due to the slopes on the course...not just the greens, but the lay of the fairways on some of the holes.
This course has been well used, needs some TLC to bring it back to life. Too many rough spots where bare dirt is exposed, stairs to holes need to be completely replaced with new ones and water recepticals need to be locked down and secured from entry.
Nice course
great little course for the money. needs some cart path repair but greens and fairways are in great shape. Unfortunately they have shortened the 18th to a par 3 because part of Fairway will be a construction zone. Dont know why they couldn't keep it open until then.
Decent Course
The course is a decent course for the money. Greens were much slower than usual. There a lot of side hill, down hill lies..Cart path only on some of the worst side hill lie holes. They should allow carts to a certain area for easier access.
Course has improved over the years but still lacking
I prefer other courses in the area over this one. Pretty expensive based on course condition in my opinion. I will play here again but I feel you get more value for your money elsewhere.
Front and back totally different
Front nine could have used a little more land. Some holes felt squeezed in. Many doglegs and most tee shots are hit uphill to blind landing areas. Fairways slope making the effective width of fairways almost half. On most approach shots you cannot see the surface of the green. Greens were in Ok shape. A couple of holes have views of water inlet from the larger lake. Back nine is mostly flat. While this is welcome, the holes are straightforward and a little boring. Back condition was a little more scruffy. The 18th hole is an uphill narrow dogleg that is now playing as a par 3. Good thing, looks like the hole was impossible before. Takes a couple of rounds to know where to hit the ball! For the $10 fee we paid on Golf Now, good for a practice round. You hit a lot of different shots on the front. You don't have the pretty vista views of the surrounding mountains as another nearby course. Ok to play when price is right!
Tough to play well!
Cambered fairways mandate accurate tee shots. Doglegs require outside tee shot for open shot to green. 18th needs a dedicated tee box that is level. Challenging course that rewards excellent shot placement.
Very nice course with excellent mountain views.
First time was a challenge in finding the pin but once that was accomplished it was all go. It wasn't like some courses where you ride around trying to follow your way to the next hole. There are clear signs to move you safely on to your next great drive! Carts are very nice. They have computers in them that tell you how far away the pin is from where the cart is located. They also have coolers on them for those hot, hot days. Staff is very friendly and helpful. I can't really think of any negatives but we know there has to be something. Oh, yeah, why can't you give free lessons to us? BTW, wonderful, no beautiful clubhouse. Restrooms are immaculate and very classy. Highly recommend this course to women!
Need to know where to hit shots
We started on first hole and found out after a couple of holes a large group was doing shot gun start we needed to move. The staff were courteous about the situation. The course itself is in decent shape but one needs to play it a few times to know where and how far to hit shots. Lots of blind shots and hazards. One also needs to know the bounces of the hill sides to place shots in the proper area. It can be an enjoyable course if one knows these.
Loved it
Beautiful Golf Course, Loved playing there, such an easy course to play on.
We Love Chatuge!
The ladies from Butternut Creek Ladies Golf Association love to play this course. It is always in great shape, greens a bit difficult to read. The staff is always friendly and make us feel very welcomed. Great place to grab a meal after a round of golf. We be back!
Mountain gilf
Course was in good shape. Green fairways and relatively smooth greens. Not the greatest layout, but beautiful views.
Fun course to play, not a lot of trouble
I really enjoy playing this course early in the golf season when my game isn't in mid-season form. Fairly easy to hit the fairways and allows you to use most all clubs in your bag.
Mountain Golf Experience
The staff members were terrific, the weather was perfect and the pace of play couldn't have been better. The course was still a little wet from recent rains, but was still very playable. Most of the greens have significant undulations, so first time players may have some difficulty. The elevation changes, and sloping fairways present interesting challenges. It was a good golfing experience.
Spring Play
For the time of the year the course was in good shape.
Will only get better as the weather improves!!
Greens and Tee boxes
A beautiful Course that has good grass but the greens are spotty and bumpy. Greens very steep. Fairways are good but mowed high. Rough is generally mowed ok. Have to tee the ball very high on most holes just to get it above the tee grass. lots of weeds and bare spots in fairways. This is poor greens keeping. Worst conditioned course in the area except Cherokee Hills in Murphy. A nice layout - shame they do not mow it like a Golf Course and take care of course conditions better.
course good shape
Course is in good shape for the money. f you don't mind the heat sometimes. It's better to go in the early afternoon. You can have the course to yourself.
Challenging course.
Course was in good shape, greens were fast and undulating, fun round.
