Butternut Creek Golf Course

Magnificent views, nice track. Unfortunately too far out of the way for me to make regular visits. Too many great courses close to me

The golf course layout is very challenging by itself so when you let the rough get so high that you most likely lose your ball… that becomes unfair.

I also suggest airifying at least the tees… very difficult to put the tee in the ground…. Actually it would not hurt airifying the fairways and roughs.

Another solution might be to have a low rough cut for 10 or 15 feet on either side of the fairway, that way there would be some relief if you miss the fairways you’d at least find your ball.

Played at 8:30, no starter so regulate yourself from the groups in front of you. Overall, course condition was very good. Only two greens had burns. The rest were in very good condition. Course is very hilly with challenging, vertical rises and drops but beautiful views.

This course is rated well and usually is ranked decently high in terms of GA public golf. I was not impressed. The conditions were good but not nice enough to make up for the bizarre layout and design. So many blind shots and elevated greens. Some holes you are hitting straight up hills and others the fairway is 100 yards below you. Honestly the land is not suited for being a golf course and they squeezed one in anyways. The holes are really close together and there are power lines running through the whole thing. Also no range or practice area just one small putting green. There was no water on the course and didn’t see a beverage cart when we teed off at 11:20a. The course was really backed up all day with no starter, marshall or ranger. I will not be returning.

Course is in a beautiful location. Staff was friendly and helpful. We lost many balls in fairways because it was not mowed short enough and our drives just disappeared. Pace of play was fairly slow. We waited on every hole for the people ahead of us. Course is difficult.

Great course with some challenging holes. The Bermuda grass will gobble up your ball if you miss the fairway. All the elevation changes add the fun and challenge of a mountain course . Course is in great shape.

Sooner or later you have to go back uphill. Number 6 was a brute for some of us. Course in very nice condition with rough being quite penal at times. Our group enjoyed the round overall.

Nice course , challenging but not extreme. Staff very friendly, course in good shape, greens rolled pretty good.

With a few blind shots, severe uphills and elevated shots, Butternut is always a challenge. The course was in good shape and the greens rolled true. Looking forward to my next round there.

Honest review here. I like Butternut. Not a bad course. Elevation changes makes it a bit harder. A bit more challenging, which is normally a good thing. But there were multiple times I hit a good shot just off the fairway and the ball disappeared. The first cut off the fairway is brutal! All over the course is the same way. I could understand the rough being like that. You shouldn’t have to look 10 minutes for a ball in the first cut. The other thing that keeps this place down for me is nowhere to warm up. No range. No nets to hit into. Nothing. First tee box is first swing of the day. Not a fan of that.

Course is good. Greens were good. Not busy that day.

Weather was perfect. Greens are fantastic. Pace got a little slow on the back. Great round.

Being from Florida it was a challenge! Great elevations and beautiful back drops from every tee box. Fairway grass had already died off and made it a little challenging to find any color ball but was still an awesome experience. Would like to try again in early to late spring.
