Golfer Reviews
Shot Makers Dream
The course is short and there is one bad hole par 3 straight up hill. However, the greens are some best I’ve putted on including private courses. Did not see a single ball mark. Once the dew dried up the greens were lightning fast. Fairways where plush and tee boxes cut short which was awesome. Played 3 1/2 on the weekend. The only negative is no driving range only nets. Back 9 no par 5’s. The other great part of it was 103 degrees in Charlotte it was 83 degrees up in mountains. Love it!
Nice but Short
Nice golf course but not the longest especially the back 9 .
There were no par 5 ‘s and the par 4’s were short but you couldn’t just hit driver or long irons. And it was definitely tight on the back. A nice track and friendly staff and people. The only issue I had was the direction from golf now had me on the Blue Ridge Parkway, which was beautiful but not to the golf course….
Awesome
What an awesome golf course. Well maintained. Greens were beautiful as was the surroundings. Very challenging with elevated greens. Will definitely play there again!
Challenging but fun course
Champion course nicely maintained. Rolling hills with a few abnormal holes…Friendly and accommodating staff. Would definitely return if in the area again.
Most fun golf course Ive played
What a fun golf course, especially for players who have lost distance of the tee. Requires a strategic style. Wedges are the most important club in the bag.
Great course - will test your short game.
The course was in excellent shape. Pace of play was excellent. Staff in the clubhouse were very nice and helpful. Back nine is short but a good test of your irons. Leave the woods in the bag on the back. Nice carts too.
Golf Now- don’t make any changes
My initial Golf Now price of $28 (cart included) wound up costing me $108.00. I wanted to get off earlier due to no activity and wanted my non-playing brother to ride along in the cart. Because I have sick wife at home, I thought getting off earlier would be better for me. I was told I would have to pay the regular tee time of $55 and a $25 fee for my brother to ride in the cart.
Just felt taken advantage of since there was no one in front of us or behind us for the entire 18 holes. Staff was friendly but said “ownership” required this pricing, but did apologize .
Shorter course but accuracy is a must
course management is required to score on this course. Ability to shape a shot is a plus. Additionally, greens are good fast. It is tough to hold shots on th green.
A Tale of Two Courses
Overall an enjoyable day, largely because we got to play as a twosome with nobody in front of us--3 hour rounds are always welcome! Front side is more conventional mountain golf with some very difficult greens. Stay below the hole! Back side is short irons off the tee on EVERY hole for a good player (yes even from the "tips") and very gimmicky, but still a nice test for lesser players. My wife enjoyed it so I had fun, too. Greens were consistent and better than I expected.
Great find, short drive from Johnson City!!
Will play this course again! Got a great deal on GolfNow and thought I would try it out. Since I live in Johnson City, I was afraid the drive would be too long but it only took about 40 minutes to get there. True mountain golf! Every hole is an exciting new challenge, a far cry from the same, boring course layout you tend to see in the Tri-Cities.
Only complaint is they have a great little food cart called the "19th hole" but they don't take credit cards. When asked if there is an ATM in the clubhouse, or anywhere around, I was told the closest ATM was a 15 minute drive from the golf course! So if you do go there, BRING CASH!
Also, when I played it was at 1:00 PM on a Tuesday and it was SLOW.... really crowded, I can't imagine a weekend if the middle of the day on a Tuesday was this slow. 18 holes took over 5 hours due to the pace of play. But I still thoroughly enjoyed the course and will play again!
Back nine is a joke
The front nine is nice, but they did not have room for 9 more holes. It is extremely short and easy of the back. Not much of a challenge if you hit it straight. The course was very crowded and it was very slow. One of the members said it is always like that.
Well maintained course, very friendly staff
The course is in excellent shape, especially the greens. It is like playing 2 different courses--the front nine is fairly long and traditional. The back nine is short, mountainous, tricky but fun. We really enjoyed it. The staff is friendly and helpful. We had a great cheeseburger at the 19th hold. Overall a fun experience.
