Just a outstanding course.... well worth the drive. Photo submitted by DKN08 on 07/11/2016
Vacation visit
3rd time playing the course and it is always in great shape. A must play if you are in the area. We drove up from Emerald Isle to play and worth the drive.
Fun course
Course was in really good shape. Greens very fast. Pro shop guy was kind of obnoxious. We had reserved four players but only three of us could make it and he kept harping on the fact that we booked four but only three showed up. The course was almost empty except for us. Rain was forecast so I guess people stayed away but that didn’t prevent the pro shop guy from really busting our chops about only having three players. In no hurry to play there again because of him.
Real Gem tucked away in New Bern
If you find yourself in the Eastern recesses of NC check out this course! Staff was very friendly! Course was well maintained and a challenge for any level of golfer! I definitely plan to play there again when I am in the area!
Great course
Pace was slow but not course’s fault. I had to wait at every tee box from the second hole on. Guess there was a fivesome in front of two twosomes. No marshal to complain to. Still finished round in 3.5 hours.
Emerald
First time playing, at first glance course looks beautiful. Tee boxes are all level / flat. Sorta open layout gives you some confidence even with the water hazards and tight spots. Maintained very well. Greens are very quick but roll true. One of the best greens I’ve had the pleasure of playing on. I shot a 91. Which could’ve been more like an 86 if I didn’t have a couple blow up holes It was a very very hot day, course is challenging but fun if you are the average golfer, below average or even a scratch golfer I recommended this course to all men and women. I played from the blue tees which was very deceiving on distance with the naked eye. Bring a range finder and you’ll be all set!
OK
The course was okay. they did not have cards availale and had to wait 20 minutes beyond Tee time. Play was very slow, took four hours for 18 holes.
Great course
I played after 2 weeks of non stop rain so it was muddy but still had a great time. This is course is the best course around under $40 I had 4 people all together in my group so we had some people passing us which was a given. But overall a great course for a intermediate player.
The Emerald
The folks at The Emerald are always friendly, professional and thorough. The course is one of the better choices on the North Carolina coast.
Great value for the money
Tight fairways with a good layout and a moderate amount of water. Well maintained and a great value for the money.
Return
Hadn’t played the Emerald in several years but I’m glad I dropped in. Still a nice track and in good shape so I went twice in one week.
Emerald
Nice layout-every hole different. Quite a few visually appealing holes. Big greens - a bit slow but true. Everywhere is wet. Nicely bunkered. Slightly elevated greens force you to land the ball on the green. Short shots will be rejected. 18 is a great closer. Long, bordered on right by pond, narrow tee shot landing area and really tight approach to a large green. Looking forward to playing when the grass greens up and things dry out.
