Short drive for great course

This was the second time playing this course. and I was not disappointed. The course was in great condition! Fairways were lush and the greens rolled quick and true. Take heed when putting from above the hole as the greens are sneaky fast. The scenery was awesome and would be worth the trip just for the views. The course was having a small tournament that had just teed off in front of us and I was pleased when the pro offered to let us start on the back 9. Pace of play was great! Slowed up a bit when we made the turn, but not too bad. We joined up with twosome behind us which helped us with the pace. The only negative I have is the lack of hole descriptions. The tee markers don't show the hole layout, and the scorecard only show the complete course layout for guidance. No yardage books are available, which would be very helpful for first time players at this course. It is easy to get into trouble here if you don't know where, or what club, to hit. STAY IN THE FAIRWAY. the Bermuda ruff is brutal.

WILL PLAY AGAIN!

Good and challenging course

Good course to check out, great views. Hole 16 was wiped out by hurricane Helen (needs to be repaired). Besides hole 16 being MIA, overall good course to play for your buck!

OK hole #16 is still closed…I don’t care!

Hole #16 is closed. Just putting that out there but who cares? If you’re looking for a great day of golf then experience Cleghorn. Course is in “winter shape” but the fairways and greens are very good. Pace of play is up to you, no waiting, no pushing.

For an accurate review I will mention the bunkers and cart paths need attention.

I recommend this course and I will return also.

Great course

So many good things to say about this course! Second time playing and it is well worth the hour+ drive. Only issue is they still don't have a 16th hole. Wish this course was closer to me, I'd be there every week

Will be back again!

I had been wanting to try Cleghorn for quite some time. I used my points to get a pretty good deal.

I was a little concerned I'd feel "slighted" since Hole 16 is still closed, but that is nowhere near the case. This course is kept in tip top shape, even in the middle of January. It was cold and windy, so I had the course to myself pretty much, which was AWESOME. The views are beautiful, the layout is challenging/fun, and it's very well kept. I will definitely be back and I am excited to see what the course looks like when it's nicer out.

Mostly solid holes. A few great ones (11 and 15). Does suffer a little from McMansion development encroaching into what could be a more scenic environment. And some of the bunkering and green design is that early 20th century overcooked style. Very playable. Wide enough off the tee and bigger greens. Did use almost all the clubs in the bag. Pro shop was super nice and the I had the course to myself which was a dream.

Great shap

Even though it's almost Thanksgiving, the course was in great shape. Yes dormant grass but it wasn't patchy like the other course in the area. Hurricane Helen took out the par 3 16th so we played 2 balls on another par 3. We played as a twosome in 3 hours even though it was 70 degrees we had the course to ourselves. They may he priced a little high because the other courses were packed.

Really fun and challenging course layout. Greens were super fast. Course was in great shape for the fall. Only bad thing is the got rocked by the flooding and Hole 16 is gone. So playing 17 holes right now.

Great course

Had a great time. No one in front and no one pushing from behind. The course is in great condition given a few greens that had a couple issues. Hole 16 should be repaired and opened up. Other that that, really enjoyed the day.

Nice golf course! Needs work though to make better…

Golf course has a beautiful mountainous landscape, alot of dogleg holes, downhill and some uphill shots. Fairways were good, most greens were ok except for a few that needed work, bunkers were unplayable needed work, missing par 3 hole 16 must have been washed out by bad storm Helene I amagine. Price for a round is too high for a golf course that is missing a hole and needing work to bunkers and some greens. Would love to play again! Course has a lot of potential of being a great course again as I’ve heard in past times.

Highly disappointed

Highly disappointed im this course. Hole 16 is closed. Cart paths are in serious need of repairs. I know hurricane Helene had some to do with this, but some things could be repaired. Bunkers have been neglected and are in need of some TLC. Priced to high for conditions. Food was too expensive. $9 for a hot dog and a tea. Other than that the course was in pretty good shape other than some of the greens looked burnt.

Hidden gem

Buyer beware: Hole 16 washed out during Hurricane Helene and has not been repaired.

Course is really well designed. Challenging but not tough. Greens make you work for it.

Course condition

I have played Cleghorn for decades. Since hurricane Helene the course conditions are really bad.

Several greens are in really bad condition, all bunkers on the course are unplayable. No sand in any of the bunkers. Hard packed red dirt.

Very unfortunate because it is a great course layout.

Very frustrating since they still charge $70 on the weekends. No warning about the course conditions.

Needs attention

Played Cleghorn several times over the last few years and must say this time the course did not meet expectations. Since the hurricane damage/closure in mid-2024 the course has not opened hole 16 (par 3). And no mention of this on their website. This is a 17-hole course. Several areas still show signs of big trees down. The rest of the course is in decent shape and the greens are great. This is a challenging course that requires correct ball placement off the tee to play the hole well.
