Increased rates and odd policies
Since new management has come in course rates have skyrocketed, unaffordable for locals. Collared shirts are now required for use of the driving range, you no longer can drive your vehicle to the range you have to walk, the new hitting mat on the range is not needed you have 2 tees to use and the course doesn’t open until 2pm on Tuesday. They have a sign for Mulligans snack bar at the entrance, if their rates were lower the course would be full and they wouldn’t have to advertise their snack bar. It’s a shame they have ran off local golfers who have supported this course for decades, hopefully the equestrian center will sell the course in the near future and someone else will come in that wants support the local community better!
An Excellent Course, both Fun & Challenging
This course remains a favorite with a great mix of mountain and lowland golf. Unfortunately the course was exceedingly wet due to recent heavy rains, however not too wet to mow so it played reasonably well and at a decent pace given it was cart path only. The rough was deep but the greens were in excellent shape. Even if you can keep it in the fairway off the tee this course will test you but if you're off even a little be prepared to pay dearly for it. Great layout, excellent condition, and a lot of fun to play.
Cleghorn
Great fairways....playable greens...sand traps not so good. Some good mountain views. Rough was a little high...it's not the US Open ya know.
Beautiful Course Ruined By Members
This course is beautiful. THAT is where it ends. They allow the members to play in FIVE SOMES and they will not let a single or double plat through. They allow urinate on the tee boxes. i am not making this up.,
This place would be first class if they didn't have terrible members ruining the course.
Buyer beware - THEY DO NOT GRANT RAIN CHECKS.
Treasure in the middle of nowhere
Staff was great. Course was great. Definitely recommend taking the drive to get there.
Surprise Mountain Jewel
This course is in excellent condition. The fairways and greens are pretty flawless. The cart paths are not in good shape and so managing around them is key but the course is so worth it! It is a challenging little hidden mountain gem. I will choose to play it regularly. Rates are fair and staff friendly.
Down hill
This place has changed much since last management. Traps are reservoirs, cart paths are dirt roads, and tee beds are torn to pieces. Conditions don’t seem to be a priority as they were previously. Staff is snarky.
Did Not Dissapoint
Really fun course. For the most part the course was in great condition. I will play here again the next time I come into town.
Not a great value
Cleghorn is a nearby course that I get out to once or twice a year. However, I just can’t fall in love with it. For the prices they are asking. It just never matches up to area courses. It was $68 on a Friday morning and compared to other courses in the area. The conditions just don’t match up to me. The greens were recently punched and sanded. No discount for that. Courses should always discount for punched and sanded greens in my opinion. The fairways were really good. The tees were uneven and kind of bumpy in my opinion. The rough was about the same cut as the fairways. But the lies were so very tight. Very little grass in the rough. The bunkers are not well maintained. Pretty inconsistent. No sand just hard dirt in some. And a lot of soft sand in others. Grass growing up in some as well. Hadn’t been maintained it a while it looked to me. The layout is outstanding. It’s a fun layout. And very challenging for a bogey golfer like myself. However, for the price I’d expect better conditions. I played River Bend Tuesday and it was in better shape for $35. And I have played Deer Brook recently and payed $50 on a Sunday. In my opinion both are much better values. I’ll go back again. But it will be a while.
What a gorgeous course! A few holes challenging but the layout of the course and holes were beautiful. Greens were aerated so putting was difficult. We'll be back
nice course
Saturday so very slow. 5 hours +
basic snack bar with booze
Great Value
Great course, great value, greens tricky, challenging. Look forward to going back.
Your Nontypical Mountain Course
A challenging course with lots of blind shots. Overall the course was in good shape. The greens were in excellent condition. We had three distinct levels of playing ability, but everyone enjoyed the day. The layout had a lot of ups and downs of a typical mountain course. A beautiful day to play.
Tuff but fair
Coarse was in great shape, greens were about a 12 and smooth
Spring Tune Up
A beautiful afternoon for a practice round. The course was in good shape for the time of year. Unfortunately I got stuck behind a group of 3 using 1 cart and none of them seemed to know what they were doing, nor had they been taught any etiquette. For 12 holes I trailed them which made it difficult to get into any kind of rhythm. On the plus side it gave me lots of time to try a variety of shots from lots of lies which is kind of what you want for a practice round. The greens were tough and the pin placements on 9 and 17 bordered on malevolent. All in all it was a decent start to the season at a beautiful mountain course.
