Sloooooooooow pace of play. The so-called rangers live in fear of asking the old folks to move it along. On a busy Friday, the ranger is let go at 2pm to possibly save $10 per hour.

Get out here before 8 am or cancel dinner plans.

Absolutely horrible management. I had to quit after 13 holes, due to the typical backlog.

Rumor has it the course has been sold and I pray the new owners aren’t so cheap as to let the only ranger go at 2pm. I literally saw him loading up his clubs to play at 2:05 pm.

The current GM does not play golf, but is extremely loyal to the very slow senior contingent.

If you don’t get out by 8 am, kiss your afternoon goodbye.

I truly hope the new owners know how to manage and maintain a golf course.

The greens have gone downhill fast. Some sort of blackish green fungus taking over making for horrible conditions.

Also, they water before cutting the greens so your first putt picks up an equator of clippings. I actually had a 15 foot putt for birdie fall over on its side.

Looks like they may lose the 9th and 11th greens soon.

Many people are avoiding the course now.

Got out to Woodfin Ridge on a hot Tuesday afternoon. Pace of play was great bc no one wants to play when it’s almost 100 degrees. I played through 1 group on 6 and did not see another group. Finished 18 holes in just over 2.5 hours. I really enjoy the layout at Woodfin. It’s an interesting and really fun play. For the most part the course is in excellent shape. The greens looked good and were smooth and quick except for about 2 holes. There were 2 greens in bad shape. 11 and one more on the back. The fairways were cut and in good shape. 3 fairway had one bad spot that looked like it had sustained some flood damage. The bunkers looked ok. But I managed to avoid them so I can’t say what shape they were in. The tees were pretty consistently chewed up on most holes. But if those 2 greens were fixed. I’d say it would be in great shape. I do think the price is a little higher than most around. $56 on a weekday afternoon seems a bit high to me. But once in a while to pay that for this layout is ok.

1 is a short to medium length par 4. Uphill. A good starting hole with plenty of room for the first swing.

2 is a layout off the tee par 4. The further left you go the further you can hit it before you get to the creek.

3 is a shorter dogleg right par 4. Bunker and green to the right. And a tricky green

4 is a medium length par 5. Straight ahead and pretty wide fairway.

5 is a tough longer uphill par 3. Can’t really see the green from the box. And it’s tough to hit.

6 is a longer par 4 with a blind tee shot that plays downhill to the green

7 is a beautiful par 4. Elevated tee shot. Wide fairway with water left and bunkers right. The green sits at an odd angle and is tough to hit

8 is a short tough uphill par 3. It’s not long. But it’s really tough to find the surface. Trees left and a ravine short.

9 is a uphill par 5. The green sits off to the right and par is a good score

10 is a long uphill par 4. Wide fairway but tough to get there in 2.

11 is a shorter slightly downhill par 3. This green was in rough shape.

12 is a beautiful par 4. Very elevated tee shot over a pond. Then an uphill approach.

13 is a shorter dogleg right par 4. Very score able

14 is a downhill par 5. The green is pretty shallow. But it plays shorter bc of the steep downhill slope

15 is a short tricky par 3 over water. Green is at an odd angle to the tee and it’s hard to hit.

16 is a short par 4 with a blind tee shot.

17 is a hoo hum par 4. Straight away. Medium length.

18 is an uphill par 5. Very similar to 9 except the green sits to the left instead of the right.

All in all an excellent play.

4 1/2 hours to play 13 holes. Had to quit again.

No ranger or starter visible all day and I found out they love to save the $10 per hour by telling them not to come in or leave early if they do show up.

The club is not managed well at all

I live here so I’m kind of stuck. Three days in a row over 5 hours to finish and I quit today after 4 hours at the tee of 13. There’s a senior group that holds up the entire course and the rangers are actually afraid to push them.

If you plan to play here, tee off early or very late.

Zero course management. I will say, beautiful course design and a delight to play…but, good luck coming in under 5 hours.

Oh…one more item..the sprinkler system is not the best so the areas around the green are like a wet diaper.

Horrible management. The course is always overbooked and you’re looking at a 5 hour round at best. The restaurant is less than roadside diner quality.

Play Links O’Tryon if possible.

It seems like greed rules here. It’s a shame, because it is really a beautiful course, but WAY overplayed.

Woodfin Ridge is a fun layout to play that is in pretty good shape. The fairways were good. The tee boxes were ok-a little thin in some areas from a lot of play. The greens were rather firm and fast. 2-3 had spots that were under repair but they were well away from the pins. It has been hot and dry for a while now. So there were areas of the course that were getting burnt out. The rough was thin and thick depending on how much irrigation it had got. Overall in good shape and fun to play. And a decent value for the area.

It took us 45 minutes to play the first hole. Too many old timers @$31 per round and they hold up the entire course. The ranger might as well go home.

The owners of the course wanted to build a “course for the common man”, yet the average house costs well over $900k.

Raise the green fees and send the tortoise players to Village Greens or Links O’ Tryon. They won’t know the difference.

Got out to Woodfin Ridge for the 2nd time yesterday and really enjoyed the round. The course was in good shape, however, this time of year the fairways, tees, and rough are all dormant. The greens were in good shape. Firm and pretty fast. I really enjoyed the layout. A good mix of elevation changes. Mostly there is plenty of room to hit the ball. But many holes are framed by steep hills on one side or the other. The staff was friendly enough. Two small complaints was the sand traps were not consistent, and it hasnt rained in weeks, and the areas around the several greens were soaking wet. They had been watering them for some reason extremely heavily. Not sure what was going on there. But those were very minor complaints and if you can get on, its worth a play!

Got out to play at Woodfin Ridge for the first time a couple of days ago. We had a Monday afternoon tee time at 2:10. The biggest negative to the round was the pace of play. We teed off around 2 and finished at 6:50-not exactly what you expect on a weekday. In the defense of the course there was a high school golf match that started earlier in the day, and I assume that was what backed everything up.

Anyway, other than the pace, I really liked the course. There was generally plenty of room to hit your ball, with a couple of tight holes. The layout was pretty fun to play and required several different shots off the tee and to the green. The greens were generally pretty big, and they rolled really smooth. Although, I think me and my partner both thought they were on the slow side. Its still too early in the spring for the grass to be growing yet. So it was still winter conditions. Overall, we had alot of fun, enjoyed the course, and cant wait to get back out and enjoy it.

We are senior golfers from NC and after our league ends we like to travel down to SC to play some of the courses. Woodfin Ridge is our top choice. Friendly staff and great rates for seniors. They put in new greens this year and they were excellent.

Played on a Saturday and the course had cancellations because it had rained (and the forecast wasn't great) but most of the round it was just overcast (only rained while we were on hole 12). So overall the weather was not the reason for slow play.

Slow Play was due to the groups in front of us. Golfers waiting for the group in front of them to be on the green on par 5s before teeing off -- ridiculous. Not one of the players we watched reached the greens in two (i.e. needed to wait to hit their tee shots). And they spent a long time putting. My guess, they were betting. So If the course had a ranger he could have moved them along but we never had a ranger drive by during our round.

The slow play aside it is a beautiful course, in great condition, lots of pretty views, rolling hills. I understand the greens are new and they are very nice. The course is interesting and some holes make you think. For example, from the forward tees, the Par 3, 5th hole is 134 yards and all uphill, forced carry. Shorter players may need to club up to make sure they are on top of the green.

Woodfin Ridge is a 40 minute drive from downtown Greenville and worth the drive on a nice day.

I will play definitely play again but maybe on a weekday to see if pace of play is better!

Course was in great shape other than the greens looking like swiss cheese with ball mark, not sure if they just needed rolled or had an outing previous. But other than being a little bumpy still in good shape. Everything else was first rate, tee boxes and fairways were pristine. Beautiful course with the best layout you could ask for, a little bit of everything.

I played this course the last two Wednesday's and loved it. It is out in the middle of nothing but what a course. Every hole was in very good shape with all greens in great shape and consistent. Lots of elevation changes but a very fair test of golf. Loved the layout and really everything about it. I highly recommend playing Woodfin Ridge and I plan to be back myself.

Woodfin Ridge offers a good variety of holes- demanding 4's, challenging 3's, and reachable 5's. The course is well laid out and well maintained. The fairways have good body; you won't lose your ball in the rough but you may lose a stroke, which is as it should be; and the greens require your close attention. After your round the burgers and the quesadillas are both good options.

Was in town on vacation and brought my 3 year old Son who lives to Golf. The staff was very friendly with him considering his age. Played on a Sunday morning and never caught the group in front and never had anyone behind us. The course is very scenic and fun to play. I played the Championship tees and since it was my first time playing the starter was extremely helpful with a few in and outs of the course. I would love to play this course again and would recommend anyone in the area to check it out
