Greens were bad.
The greens were in terrible shape. The fairways were like the rough at most courses and the greens were long and rough. Bare spots everywhere. Very poor condition.
Fun and beautiful course
Greens were rough with bare spots and duck waste. Fairways were just mowed but cut grass was so heavy I lost two balls in the fairways.
Staff was very friendly and helpful.
Mountain course
Great views and nice layout. All par 3's scenic some very tough. Well worth playing if in the cashiers area.
Sapphire Nat needs maintenance
We have been playing this course for the last 10 years and I think this is the worst shape I’ve see the course. Greens have large dead spots in them and don’t roll well at all. Fairways are not being kept cut either. I almost lost my ball in the middle of the fairway
Worst course ever
It’s a real shame. The layout is nice with great views however the course has not been maintained. Not one green is in good condition and none can be putted. The fairways are all crabgrass and the tee boxes are chewed up. They want premium dollars for maybe the worst course. Save your money!!
Great Mountain Layout
Beautiful views and elevation changes galore. Layout is spectacular and challenging especially for “flatlander” like myself. With some investment in greens and bunkers, this could be real gem, especially since there are very few public courses in the Highlands/Cashiers vicinity!
Nice layout but fair condition
First time playing this course. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Very scenic course . The course needs some TLC . The greens were pretty beat up. You can see at some point this was a very nice course. I think pricing is high for the condition it's in.
Not worth $20 much less 100
This course is an absolute waste of time. Tees were trash, fairways were trash, and greens were exceptional trash. Go play a better course for half the price.
Great layout, terrible greens
Loved the layout. My complaint was the condition of the course. Fairways were OK but the greens were awful. I didn't bother to put on a few of them as there was no grass. Played here three years ago and greens were just fine then. Don't know what happened. Course has a lot of fun, unique holes. Would not walk this course.
Great Views With a Few Holes
The course is really pretty. Really cool and challenging par 3s and nice rolling fairways for the par 4/5s. However, the green conditions were not great, especially in the rain. Lots of geese poop. The club rentals were absolutely awful for $40. Overall too expensive for what you get, but if you have your own clubs I’d still recommend going once
Save your money
First off staff super friendly and amazing people. Beautifully designed with great layout. The scenic views are amazing. The downfall is the price is triple what it should be for the unplayable conditions of the fairways, rough and greens. The tee box grass was as high as my tee was in the ground. The greens were slimy and slick enough to slide down them if it wasn’t for golf cleats. The drainage on the course is nonexistent and half the cups were full of water. After the 3rd hole we realized what kind of day it was gonna be and considered asking for our money back and drive the hour back home. Either the course needs tons of grooming and attention or it need to be $35. Disappointed was an understatement.
Sapphire Golf - Believe the reviews
All the prior poor reviews are accurate. Course was probably good 20 - 30 years ago, but no way should they be charging $100 a round. I got a Tee Off deal for $65 and it should be half of that. Layout has obviously changed and multiple groups had no idea where some of the next holes were. Conditions are poor, awful tee boxes and greens, and layout is tough. Not much in the way of “mountain golf views.” Some interesting holes but I would not come back again. Staff seemed apathetic to be there also. If you have to play public in the area, do yourself a favor and go to Sequoyah or Sky Valley instead.
Great track, horrendous condition
Greens were fuzzy, but with numerous dirt patches. Don’t know what happened here, but you do NOT want to play here
SLIPPERY !
Hubby took a dramatic slide in the mud on 4th green yesterday. Super slick from moisture and moss I suppose. A muddy mess and hard to get a footing to get up. He’s mighty sore today but that’s the worst of it. We quit on that hole and when driving by folks on 5th hole, one of them had fallen too. Green are in rough shape in addition to slippery conditions.
