River Oaks in the fall
Beautiful course and a beautiful day. I could have picked an easier course after my 4 year hiatus, but I always liked this course and had not played it under the current owners. The course has done well under new ownership. The first hole has been shortened and made much easier but the rest of the course was as I remembered it; challenging. Tee boxes were good, fairways were great and the greens were perfect. It was a wonderful fall day with temperatures in the early seventies and nothing but sunshine. All of the fall leaves had been blown off of the course and into the wooded areas. Great experience.
Hidden jewel
It is a beautiful mountain course. Such a challenge course I want to come back again.
Super golf course
Excellent, I recommend you play here , This course is very well laid out with beautiful views . All greens where is great shape. Tee boxes could use a little work but other than that this course is a must play course. It is conveniently located off of I-40.
Wow, What an Awesome course
Wow , Just played this course today , 10-10-14 and it is now one of my all time new favorite golf courses. It is extremely well laid out with awesome views and great condition. The fairways where stripped and every green rolled consistently and all where in super shape. Tee boxes need a little work but all in all, I would rate this course a must play. I will definitely play there again and it is conveniently located right off of interstate 40.
Excellent layout
Absolutely beautiful course great layout not too difficult but challenging staff was super friendly
Great Course for the Money!
Very impressed with the course. Challenging but fair. Greens were in good shape and rolled good.
Well worth the drive
Excellent course for the price. A very beautiful layout. extremely challenging for a first time as tons of blind shots.
A Great Course
River Oaks has changed so much since the new owner took over. Easily the best course in Iredell County. All the staff have the attitude that they are very appreciative of your business. This is usually what is lacking at the golf courses these days. Every hole could be on a post card.

Great value
Lots of risk/reward shots. Price during the week is $29 and the course is well worth it. Very well maintained. The challenge in it lies in the tight fairways and the fact that on 5 holes you have to shape your shot. You can choose to hit it shorter yardage...but if you want that full driver or 3 wood....you have to shape your shot so it presents something different than the average course.
Good snack bar area that serves up fresh sandwiches...cheesebruger and chicken are my favorite. Great staff, good carts. If you're in the area you can't wrong playing this course.
would not acceot my golf now voucher
The course was probably the most difficult I have played. The greens was excellent and once the fairways green up,this course will be in really good shape. They would not accept my golf now voucher but did extent that price that I paid to our round. Just have to wait for refund from golf now.
Fabulous test of your golf skills!
Every hole is a challenge both mentally and physically. Excllent course, great value for money....highly recommended. Not for the faint hearted!
Good value, mountain feel
The course is a little rough in spots, but greens are in good shape. For $17, it offers great value. Layout has a mountainesque feel, with lots of change in elevation. So much change in elevation that navigating the cart path with wet brakes can be a little hairy.
Fun, very challenging.
This course I found to be very challenging with all the hills, streams, ups and down shots. Greens were in very good condition. This course is alot of fun to play on.
Challenging from the Black Tees
Greens were fast, smooth and rolled true. Best I've putted on this year. Overall nice course conditions. Will definitely play again.
Enjoyed the experience!
Extremely challenging. Greens and Fairways in Great condition.
Bunkers are extremely fair and consistent. Rough could use a little work. Sometimes very hard to find your ball in the rough.
Play here quiet a bit
Well worth $17. They are really trying to get this course up and running. New nice clubhouse. Lot of maintenance work going on. Its been through a lot of ups and downs the last six years I have been playing it and I understand that has been true for its history. It is in the best shape now I can remember it. If you haven't played it in a while, come check it out. Think you'll see improvement.
Good Challenge for Above Average Golfers.
We found this to be a Scenic Course with a good layout. Most holes required a tee shot into a narrow fairway. If our shots
ended up in the rough near the fairway or near the green, our golfballs would disappear into the deep rough. We had to spend too much time looking for balls not two yards into the rough, sometimes you had to step on a ball to find it. The greens held
shots into it and putted consistent speed. Well worth the Golf Now Price.
A muddy sandy wreck
Only paid $18 through golfnow.com. That was the only thing good about it. They had just aerated and sanded. The sand was in uneven piles all over the greens. Drainage is poor. I should have known better. Just saw a story about Rock Barn losing greens to flooding. Not the case here. Just a lot of fairways that were a mess.
The rough's growing way too well and is cut too high. It's just not fair to hit a drive, know it's in play, and still not be able to find it.
Why did I go there? I must have been thinking about a different course.
