Good To Be Back Home Again

Played my very first round of golf at Twin Oaks back in the mid-70's (the decade not the score) and after moving away from home had not visited the course since around 1984. Originally, planned to play at a nearby newer course, but after visiting the place was turned off by the staff. Decided to go to Twin Oaks just to give it a look. Glad that I did. The staff was friendly, informative and very helpful. Wound up playing three times during the week as I was truly made to feel like I was home - which for the moment, I guess I was. The course was in good shape and there are some challenging holes to keep one entertained along with a few easier ones providing relief opportunities for your scorecard. The only downside I think, is that given this is the oldest golf course in Statesville and I think Iredell County, locals tend to take it for granted. Finishing up my initial round there I went inside the clubhouse to tell the staff member (Ken, I think, apologies if I got the name wrong) how much I enjoyed my morning there. Another customer was there complaining about the recent increase in green fees saying she ought to be able to play 36 holes for what Twin Oaks charged. Like me, she belonged to the senior circuit which translated to a rate of $22 which included a cart. Yeah, highway robbery. Could not believe she could be so ridiculously rude and childish. Guessing she lives under the delusion the course maintains itself and the staff works for the sole joy of experiencing customer interaction like with her. I would love to pay $22 on my current home course. However, if they did only charge $22, I'd likely never get a tee time or have to book seven days in advance. Looking forward to my next visit home and a return to Twin Oaks.

Don’t Waste Your Money

I can confidently say this was my first and LAST time playing here. I arrived 15min early as usual and went to the pro shop to check in. The lady at the fest had no idea what tee time I had and had to show her that I had paid online through my phone. Course condition is a joke, all tee boxes, fairways, and greens were over grown. Carts are not well maintains and sand bottles were empty and zip tied to the cart, safe to say divots are not repaired on the course. Pace of play was horrible to the point were I tried to play through a group of 4 refused and was approached aggressively, told all sorts of insults and profanity and then refused to let me play through or even hit my tee shot due to them being writhing 2 feet of me and refuse if to move. Save your money and go somewhere else. Staff is unprofessional, patrons are rude and disrespectful, and course is in bad shape. 0/10

Backed up like a toddler eating cheese for a week.

It was my first time playing here. I choose this course because it was about half way for me and my brother to meet up and play.

To start the staff were extremely friendly and helpful the whole time.

I grabbed a bucket of balls and headed to the range to warm up. The range… mediocre at best. The hitting area seemed unmanaged and no where flat to hit.

Our tee time was 10:04. We didn’t take off until 10:25 due to back up on the first hole. We were hoping that was the end of it but it wasn’t. The back up continued all 18 holes. Hit the ball wait, hit the ball wait, over and over again. It took nearly 5 hours to finish the round on a pretty easy layout with not a lot of danger.

The greens.

The greens rolled slow. Probably due to the fact it looked like a hail storm hit them from all the unfixed pitch marks.

I say all that to say we had a great time still. For the price on a Saturday morning I can’t complain too much. Just use this as a frame of reference and give them a shoot.

Save your money add $10 and play at a good course

A friend and I played this course for the first and last time on August 23rd of 2025. The course was mowed a day or so before and all of the clippings were still all over the course. On every Fairway t-box and even the apron of the green. If you're looking to just whack the ball around and don't care and looking for a low price I guess this is your place. But if you're looking on playing competitive round of golf and not having to move the ball off clippings this is not the place to be

Great course But…..

The greens are really bad and on top of that they must of hired a blind high schooler to mow them

POLITICAL SIGNS NOTWITHSTANDING…..

This course was overall okay….. it did challenge accuracy off the tee because it was very easy to lose a ball…. THAT ROUGH IS THICK!! We felt like some of the greens needed some love as the grass was thick on some of them as well. Hole 12 green was a disaster, what we thought were sand traps, were sand repair on the green. Not all tee boxes are marked, so we were a bit confused as to where certain holes were (like Hole 2). It was a good challenge with the water and hazards.

Back yard grass

The fairway is like the rough and the rough is much rougher. Greens have blades going different directions so a putt can go in five different directions. Very similar to putting on carpet. From Charlotte it is not worth the drive.

Wow!

So not my first choice when looking for a golf course. It needs some work. But I did enjoy myself and played well. They really should think about improving the tee time schedule. It was out of control. The pace of play was nonexistent, 5+ hours for 18 holes and that witnessed a group of 3 turn in to a group of 5, which i heard happens often. Lol, but I love the game and luckily I didn't have anything planned for that day but golf.

Terrible greens

Greens were NOT playable. Bumpy, rough, long, patchy, bare spots on greens, cart path was very rough, backed up the whole day due to incompetence of scheduled tee times. Will never go back. Waste of money and time.

Horrific greens, missing tee box markers/signs make navigation difficult

You get what you pay for, decent layout, greens are close to unplayable…politcal signage in and around pro shop, I was blocked in parking lot which is too small with trucks parked on both sides…course has potential and would return for early tee time but seen major backups as I was leaving…
