Cooks Creek Golf Club
About
Cooks Creek Golf Club (previously known as Raintree South Golf Club) is bordered by Little Walnut Creek on one side and the Scioto River on the other, providing a scenic setting that is ideal for a round of golf. The course is a certified Audubon Sanctuary and there is also a Blue Herron rookery on site. Opened in 1993, the golf course is relatively young but it has already established a reputation for being one of central Ohio's best public courses. Local architects Michael Hurzdan and Dana Fry designed the course with the assistance of John Cook. Cooks Creek has two completely unique nines that offer two different sets of challenges. The diverse layout requires careful strategy and it will also test your shot-making abilities. With two bodies of water serving as neighbors, water definitely plays a role on the golf course.

Tee Boxes (This is one of the tee boxes with actual green on it, rather than just pure dirt) Photo submitted by ScEGDxKM8Z1A9tQ5q63k on 10/13/2019

This was a fairway, patches of dirt like this were extremely common throughout. Photo submitted by ScEGDxKM8Z1A9tQ5q63k on 10/13/2019

Great Course
The course was in excellent condition and very fun to play. Great value for the money.
Sloooow
Nice course, greens and fairways were in very good shape. We were at 4 hrs with 5 holes left to play. There wasn't a hole where we didn't wait at least 10 minutes. It was a joke. We mailed it in after the 13th hole. It's a shame because it would've been a great value at $22, but I'll not make that drive back down there with the risk of another 5.5 hour round. You get what you pay for I suppose.
One of my favorite courses.
Played this course many times back in its heyday when it was still cooks creek. Was pleasantly surprised with the condition it was in. Definitely not as pristine as I remember but really not bad especially for the price I paid. Greens were still quick and smooth. Fairways were nice as well. Bunkers not so much but still a great course and am looking forward to playing it again soon.
Fun and challenging with beautiful scenery
I like how this course is laid out. Almost every hole is lined with tall trees or water giving it a very secluded feel and a fun challenge.
The carts are newer and electric. The conditions were good, but seem to be lacking just a bit from last year. Not a big deal though, still very much worth playing… Especially if you can find a good deal.
this course has sand traps
this course was great lot of sand traps and some water course was a little dry got a lot of roll greens were fast all in all great course
Must play
This place is one of my favorite courses I've ever played. For anyone in Columbus, you must make the trip down 23 and play.
SWEET!
Have wanted to play this course for yrs. Drove from Marion to play. Was very impressed with the fairways traps and greens. Was with the drive. Will definately play again soon.
Sad but true!
Beautiful course with poor tee time management. 12:38 tee time placed us center of a known outing. Never finished the 18 holes we paid for. Would have been dark. Course in excellent condition but wouldn't go back if you paid me. Great example of poor clubhouse management. Sad but fact!
Awesome as always
This is one of my favorite courses in the area. I always love coming here. Greens are fast and true, fairways are in great condition, and the weather was perfect. My only complaint was the pin placements for the day. I mean, EVERY pin was tucked behind a bunker or a hazard. I felt like it was the final round of the US Open. Other than that, I had a great time!
For a deal, worth the drive
While the course conditions could use some improving (cart paths, collars on greens, sand traps, etc.) the overall look of the course was great. Nice layout with many forced carries and interesting holes. For a deal, it's worth the drive from Columbus.
Love the course but needs attention
Price was great but the course seems to be going down in quality. Staff was great and had our 4some ready to go when we arrived. Once on the course, the views were great from tee box to green. The sand traps were in poor condition. Looked like they had not been touched in a long time. Tee boxes had crab grass growing. The fairways were in great shape and the greens rolled true.
Still a very nice course
Got a great deal from Golf Now. Played on a warm
Wednesday, Tee Time 11:23 Starter had us off by
11:00. Not crowded at all. Course in very good shape
except for a few bunkers not maintained. Fairways
great, greens fast and true. Fun course but you need
to stay in the fairways. It does play a little long for an
old guy, choose your tee accordingly.
Good course
Overall good course thought the greens were a little firm.
First Timer
Very nice course with easy access. Great staff and local golfers are very friendly. Plus it's tough place to beat for $40
Still a sweet track
Played Raintree South on Sunday. This is the old cooks creek renamed by new owners. The course was in great shape. .speed of play was awesome and staff were friendly and happy. I picked my son up at OSU and we were in the pro shop 25 min later. Easy drive, well worth it. My son wants to add it to our regular rotation. This is a cool golf course.
Over booked
I had played this course a couple years ago and loved it. This time, not so much. Course over booked to the point were it took 6 hours to play. Tee boxes were trashed, pot marks all over the greens and there wasn't any water! Really disappointed. Not worth the money they are asking to play there.
One of my Favorites
Nice course with the majority of holes challenging. Even in the rain the course workers were getting the course in shape. I try to play it once or twice a year even though I live two hours away. My sons favorite.
Course in great condition
Parked in parking lot and starter had cart waiting for us behind car...Had starting time of 9:41 got us out at 9am...Course was in great condition, greens very consistant, somewhat fast for early morning..All staff very helpful and friendly. The girl working the bar was great and made us an awesome pulled pork sandwich and chips...Already have another tee booked....Call them and ask about some great deals they have coming up.........Don
Going, Going........
Cook's Creek has always been an excellent track. The course is challenging and in good shape. Good shape that is, unless you find a trap. Then it is the pits. Traps are not raked and have little sand. The greens were true and of good pace. The tee boxes were good. The fairways were good. The staff is minimal. The bar does not even have draft beer, although the multiple taps are present. The new "Raintree South" is just a facade. The flags for each hole still say "Cooks Creek". The sign in the bar still says "Cooks Creek". The skeletal staff, the unrevised signage, the lack of trap maintenance, tells me that the new owners will ride this course down to the ground. They will continue to charge a premium price for a diminishing product. Course is still OK for now, so get it while you can.
