Cooks Creek Golf Club
About
Cooks Creek Golf Club (previously known as Raintree South Golf Club) is bordered by Little Walnut Creek on one side and the Scioto River on the other, providing a scenic setting that is ideal for a round of golf. The course is a certified Audubon Sanctuary and there is also a Blue Herron rookery on site. Opened in 1993, the golf course is relatively young but it has already established a reputation for being one of central Ohio's best public courses. Local architects Michael Hurzdan and Dana Fry designed the course with the assistance of John Cook. Cooks Creek has two completely unique nines that offer two different sets of challenges. The diverse layout requires careful strategy and it will also test your shot-making abilities. With two bodies of water serving as neighbors, water definitely plays a role on the golf course.

Tee Boxes (This is one of the tee boxes with actual green on it, rather than just pure dirt) Photo submitted by ScEGDxKM8Z1A9tQ5q63k on 10/13/2019

This was a fairway, patches of dirt like this were extremely common throughout. Photo submitted by ScEGDxKM8Z1A9tQ5q63k on 10/13/2019

A gem of a course, worth the drive from Columbus
I have played Cook's Creek (now called Raintree South) twice this year. Both times were very enjoyable. The course is in really good condition. They are doing some light construction near the clubhouse, but this really did not impact play at all.
The fairways are amongst some of the widest that I have ever seen on a golf course - which is appreciated for a slicer like me. They were in very good shape. The greens ran fast and true.
Many of their teeboxes are elevated and there are some great views of the course from the boxes.
I would play Cook's Creek anytime that I could when a hot deal is available.
First class layout, second class condition, third world cart paths
Either they don't have a greenskeeper or the one they've got takes no pride in his work. Shameful waste of a great course layout.
A fun course to play, a lot of water hazards on the front nine.
Pace of play was good, staff was friendly, booked on GolfNow for $33 on a Saturday which was a very good value.
Great challenge
This course is a very challenging course but fair. It has wide fairways which make it fair but the length and greens make if a good test. There are a few rough spots where foot traffic and carts have torn up the grass but they do not come into play on the course. It is a little far from Columbus but worth the trip to go play.
Cooks Creek is now Raintree South GC
Course has changed its name to Raintree South, and signage at US 23 has been changed. If one doesn't know of this, the may have trouble finding the course.
Course remains in excellent shape- greens are extremely good and true. Only problem is that a new propane pipeline is being installed across a few front nine holes, so course is torn up in this area. I played in less than 3 hours as a single- not much play on this Wednesday afternoon.
Overall- this remains a very nice course for a golfnow rate.
course has great potential but could use some tlc.
Good challenging course with some beautiful holes. I gave it 3 stars due to the numerous ball marks on the greens and divots on the tee boxes. Not to mention the evident mosquito farm. I've never seen so many in one place before in my 30 years. Unless you have a can of 100% deet in your bag, stay away from this place. They make it impossible to focus on anything except smacking yourself every other second.
Fun course!
Fairways and greens in great shape. Course was a lot of fun to play and challenging.
Course has fallen far in the last year!
Extremely disappointed in the condition of the course. This used to be one of my favorites but unfortunately I do not believe I will be playing there again. Several weeks ago they changed the name to Rain Tree South, but I was told it's still the same owners which was surprising given the extremely poor condition of the course. The sand traps are no longer maintained, there are weeds growing everywhere and they removed all ball washers and water coolers from the course. It also makes no sense why they would change the course name and lose the name recognition of Cook's Creek. This is certainly no longer a $60 course and even with the GolfNow discount it is not worth it.
Beautiful course
Challenging pin locations, quick greens, great green fairways and hazards that will punish misses. I loved it.
great track
each hole is designed to be unto itself with no distraction of others players on other holes
would return often if not so far from home
This course is a good mixture of link style and conventional layout
Green was well drained after morning rain and provided true slope. Fairway was wet here and there but it was ok overall.
Yardage markers were easy to follow and strategically located.
Overall course was in excellent shape even after a short storm.
Improvements needed!
No longer called Cooks Creek. The government is putting in a huge gas line that goes through the first tee. Marshall's on the course but never said a word. Four groups on the 10th tee. Conditions not what I have seen in the past. Glad I got a Hot deal,
Great course and chanllenging.
The course has different skill levels. It is definetely a must play for any skill level of golfer.
Has went downhill
Course staff was very friendly. We needed to change our tee time and were able to do so. We had a group of three, teed off at 11:57 for an 11:44 tee time, finished at 5:05. Miserably slow!! Will probably consider never playing here again for this reason alone. To make it worse, the course was in as bad of shape as I've ever seen it. That must be why they're changing the name. Course needs work. Marshall's need to enforce slow play rules. Some holes took 30 minutes. Sad for a once wonderful setup.
This course has a great layout
This course is a great challenge for every golfer. The traps were a little light on sand and the greens need some attention.
Excellent golfing experience.
Great conditions, beautiful course, serene surroundings makes for an excellent golfing experience. Tee'd off late morning on a beautiful Saturday and play was smooth as silk. Even though they were not needed there were rangers constantly monitoring play.
As far as the course is concerned the fairways, greens and sand traps were impeccable. The fairways rolled out nicely but the greens still held all but the worse approach shots and they putted consistent and true. The service in the Pro Shop, beverage cart and in the restaurant was friendly and professional.
Very nice course
Enjoy playing this course. Had bad weather though on the day we played and only played 11 holes. Was in good shape and greens rolled well. Did not have very good drainage and was soggy. Also there is a gas line going thru the course and a lot of construction, trees coming down with a big fire burning during our round. Would like to come back on a better day to play.
Nice course with quite conditions
I have been wanting to play this course for years and finally had the chance to do so and I was not disappointed. A lot more topography than I anticipated, but that just added to the enjoyment.
I will be back to play this course again.
Excellent layout
Cook's Creek is a great layout with many challenging holes. I played about 2 weeks after a flood and the course was already in good condition. My only complaint was there were several rangers on the course, but we arrived at the 10th tee with three groups on the tee.
