B at Seneca Golf Course

This course is outstanding in every way. Rangers driving the course offering extra water. I’m not sure about an earlier review claiming it was not worth it, unless he played the old A course. The new 9s are terrific and the staff very friendly. Will continue to play this course often and can’t wait until the fall when the 3rd nine opens!

Played the back A course. The fact they charge $28 for this course is ridiculous. I know they have put some work in on the other courses but this one is the worst. The fairways had rows and clumps of cut grass everywhere. Heavens forbid you hit your ball anywhere else then the fairway and you are taking a drop because you can find your ball in the overgrown rough. There are very limited cart paths, they are only right around the tee boxes. When you drive your cart off of those you better hold your balls and make sure everything is secure. The ground is so bumpy and unleveled. I would expect this at a $10 or $12 course but $28. You are better off going somewhere else for this price.

Played here growing up as a kid. Thirty years later, there are now only 27 holes instead of the 36 holes I knew. Still a forgiving course and a great place to work on your swing. The course looks good but it will take some time to get there after the renovations. I think the Metroparks will get it right. Would come back.

Played here growing up as a kid. Thirty years later, I was surprised to see one of the nine holes is no more. The three nines left have fancy names, no longer A and B courses. I see the improvements taking shape. Just going to need some time and I am sure the Metroparks will get it done. Still a forgiving course. Great course to play in the beginning of the season and good course to work on your swing to get better. Great value. Will come back.

Was surprised how great of shape the course was today this late in the season. Greens were still fast, a few of the sand traps needed some sand, but other than that, Great Job Seneca...

Let me start by saying that I didn't play this course before the renovations so I don't have a baseline. But you can tell where they made the renovations. I won't criticize a course for having bare spots or thin areas after a renovation. I worked at one of the top courses in the area when it first opened. It comes with the project.

Overall, the course was rather green. I gave it 4 stars for conditions as someone who has seen the opening of a course. It will be inconsistent. Some places will be hard, some soft. It was mowed and maintained. The striping in the fairways was great to look at. Think your way around this course. Missing in the wrong spot can be the difference between birdie/par and double bogey or worse.

What I focused on was the bunker placement. It looks like they really nailed it. The distances from the tees are right on with modern yardages and are truly hazards.. The cut of the fairways add some nuance and really help frame the sub-400 yard par 4s, of which there are several. The par 5s are not guaranteed birdies, or pars for that matter. The par 3s can really be stretched out from the back tees. The stretch of holes 5-8 on the Furnace Run nine are really great golf holes. The true standout stretch of golf here. It was really hot and humid and my playing partner and I were starting to get a bit fatigued, until we got to this stretch. We both perked right up.

If I had to leave a complaint, I would say that the sand is too fluffy. It's a hazard, I understand that. Just felt a little inconsistent. I also think they need to trim some of the trees back a bit. Last thing would be pin placement. There were a few that were 3 paces from the edge. Not ideal for weekend/holiday locations at muni courses. Pace of play was about 4:30. Which isn't terrible. As for amenities, I gave it a low score based on current offerings. They have a selection of apparel, which is always nice. The putting green as it currently stands, doesn't reflect the on course conditions. It's severely sloped. It's my understanding that a full grass range is the final stage of the renovation. I hope a short game practice area is also in the works.

A note for the Metroparks decision makers...Be smart with this facility. You have taken a big step in the right direction and have the makings of another great golf option. I'm excited to see how this course matures over the next few years. You have a lot of additional room to work with. Please make it count.

If you play here bring breakfast , lunch and a dinner your going to be there all day You could fly to Pebble Beach play 18 and fly back home faster then play a round of golf here , or any other metro parks course

The Metroparks improvements continue to develop this into a great expereince. With 2 of the 4 9 holes completed I experinced 18 holes of of excellent conditions. Now that the new rough has matured the ball is up a little to make seceond shots much easier. The greens are in great shape, a little hard with no rain this week.

I played Chippewa, which is one of the re-done nines. This course used to be a cow pasture but now is very good. Metroparks are doing a great job getting this course in shape, slowly but surely. I Will come back.

The weather was bad, drizzle and some periods of rain. Starter got us off early.

I was surprised by the fairway grass on several holes where there was patches of no grass, mowed too low and scalped the grass. this old B course has been completely upgraded but Iwas surprised by the fairway grass condition? It has been re-seeded last year.
