beginners course
First bummer, on-line rate was $10. As soon as I tried to book the rate jumped to $14. ONLY REASON I played here was to hang out with a friend that doesn't have confidence in his game and knows he struggles. The course was sold from city to metro-parks and has been undergoing rehab for at least 3 years. Ground is rock hard and rutty. Greens are small but the only thing decent at this course. I would never pay full price here.
Seneca much better with Metro Management
The course has gotten progressively nicer and more challenging since the Metroparks have taken over. The long grass similar to a Links style has made it so that the course has to be respected. Players can no longer wail away and have a shot from out of bounds. Sand traps still a bit hard, but much better. The greens are better and faster now than they've ever been in memory.(going back 25 years for me) It is finally a "real" course. Cudos to the Metroparks
Needs work
The golf course is very rough (and thats the fairways). Potholes in the fairway, rough was very high, greens slow and the high grass, which if you miss the rough you are in, is impossible to get out of.
Not as much of a cow pasture as it used to be but there many better courses for the same price.
Need to cut grass better!
We played the newly reopened, ( and lengthened) A course...The grass they planted for roughs is questionable, Very tall. The yardages were unsuitable for women....The white tees might be OK for a senior , but they are on the same box as the gold, which I played... Black are too deep for most amateurs...ok so white 5500 , too deep for women . Gold 6200? , Which was ok , and black 6800... Rough on the back side has definitely needed cutting more regularly ..... Clumps everywhere, 4 inches deep average? Absurd! Not to .mention the deep 1 foot tall grasses they let grow in a few years ago. All in all toughest course I ever play....
Better ways to spend your time
The 'B' course is best suited for a nature walk.
Decent Track
I haven't played this course for 18 years I would guess. Only played it that one time. So it was like new to me. Nice layout. Condition was a little sticky. When it dries out, I think it will be a bit more playable. Looking forward to trying it again as well as the new 9 they are finishing this month.
Feat location
This course being a one of metro parks own has the typical features of metro park courses; the only problem was rough ride on the fair ways. The whole course looks it's under construction.
Great junior tees
Took my son out here. Loved the junior tees on the B course. The A course looks like they've put some work into it. I'll come back to play again.
Seneca B Course
Not crowded at all, fairways in rough (damaged) conditions but playable. Greens were slick & in great shape, but fair & played well.
The course is terrible
Maybe the worst course in Cleveland right now..there is not one single good thing I can say about this course.
Bring 2 dozen balls
If you don't hit every single fairway your ball will be gone. It is ridiculous. I will never ever play here again. Lost a ball on almost every hole and I am a 14 handicap.
No real improvement
I haven't played Seneca in 3 years. I was expecting a little more change since the metro parks took over but it looks like the process is taking longer then I thought.
The condition of the greens is about the only notable difference. Metro parks keeps raising the price but the conditions are getting worse.
Regular Golfer
The course is under renovation, the fairways are hard but it hasn't rained in 2 weeks. tee boxes were hard to put tees in and greens are watered only.
We did see a beverage cart on the course but only twice and it was near the 9th and 18th holes so we didn't get anything.
I have great expectations now metro parks purchased the course but give them a few years.
Seneca Golf Course
course has four mines but they have a great deal under repair. Greens are very small and slow. The course team did not do a good job of managing the pace of play even when called out.
Just ok
Great layout but the greens are slow. This makes for a very long round and constant frustration. We found the course on golf now and they're making headway to be better. The staff was great, food at the turn good, but the greens were a big let down.
seneca course conditions and play
course condition fairways and green were in very good shape considering the amount of rain the last two weeks. Green were in excellent condition but sand traps were water hazards, that understandable due to the weather
Wait a Year
The A course is 100% under construction and it seems that they are forgetting to maintain the B course. You'll find great deals for this place this season but don't fall for it! Golf elsewhere. Rude starters and poorly maintained grounds... There are better courses within a 5 mile drive of here.
Under Construction
They are currently redoing Back 9 of B and it is closed also front side of A is closed. Traps had not been raked . Moderate to fair. won't play again.
Can't wait to see the improvements when they are done!!
I haven't played this course in years...fairways & greens were well manicured...the high grasses in the rough are :very well place" & make it a challenge at times !! Some parts under contruction...shoould be nice when done. Unless you get discounts- it's a little high priced for a public metro parks course..could use some color in the landscaping , no ladies tees & forget the Tee box signs...distances are way off....use the score card.
Nice layout
Good, long holes. Played B course. Mature trees. Fairways good condition, even in the fall, with lots of leaves.
Greens very good shape, not fast.
Challenging, with unforgiving rough, often 10 yards off green. Really heavy, deep grass on most holes- you just won't find a ball when you're in it, let alone hit out of it.
I really like the course and the layout, but most people I golf with won't play here because of the rough, and lost balls. Pace of play today was excellent, was wide open (cool Sunday late October), finished in 3 hours but I imagine in peak times it may grind to halt with hunts for balls in the deep grass.
When they re-do the course, they really should knock down the heavy grass in many of the deep rough areas for speed of play.
