Course rating
The staff was very friendly. I was disappointed when we made the turn. They put 2 twosomes in front of us. Both were very slow and held us up. The course has drainage ruts through out.
Good recovery by MetroParks
Fairways in good shape. Greens fast. Rough cut short for fast play. Friendly staff. - Seneca A is very playable for most golfers.
Easy and Fun
This course is very well maintained by the Metroparks, tee to green. The staff was proud to talk about the improvements underway as well. Other than a few monster par 5's, the B course is not at all a challenging layout, but it is a lot of fun. Pace of play was excellent and the greens were slow but well kept. I had read some questionable older reviews that complained about course conditions, and was somewhat nervous about the shape the course would be in; I worried for nothing. This is a solid Metroparks course and I plan to return soon!
Plays longer than it looks
I have never played this course and we wanted to give it a shot. The staff was very friendly and couldn't have been nicer. The fairways and greens were very nice. The rough on the other hand was tall and would swallow your ball up. Most likely over grown because it had dumped rain for the past week, so that'll happen. Overall though, we enjoyed our round and will play it again.
Horrible experience.
The course is in bad shape. The starter was rude and let 4 twosome go behind our foursome. Then told my foursome to pick up the pace rather than combining the twosomes. This ruined my day! The golfers I played with, as well as myself, are considerate golfers and understand pace of play. We took 4 1/2 hours to play 18, which given the soggy course conditions and the fact this was our first time out this year, wasn't that bad! I paid for my round as well as everyone else on the course! I will not be rushed playing a game that is meant to be fun and relaxing. It was also a problem that the course's eatery was closed and the only beverages they were serving was warm soda! I, like many other golfers, like to enjoy a hot dog at the turn as well as a COLD beverage! It is safe to say I will not recommend this course to anyone or return myself!
Requires immediate attention!!!! Do not play!
Seneca has potential in the layout to be a decent course, but with a clueless staff, a novice crowd of golfers, and abysmal course conditions, I doubt that day will ever come. And when I say "clueless staff", I am not exaggerating one bit! Easily the best thing about Seneca is the consistent yet varying layout. The course really does have potential and actually has some very scenic holes, but it needs a complete overhaul to ever have a chance. Anything more than the change under your car seat, and you're paying too much to play Seneca.
Good value, greens in great shape
Course is improving over last couple of years. Played course "a" and about a third of the holes had some rough fairways but the greens were in great shape on all holes.
Moderately challenging with decent distances from the black.
Not many golfers on the course for a holiday weekend, surprising since the fees here are a good value.
Bumpy ride
You're in for a bumpy ride when you hit the course..... Greens were in pretty good shape but the fairways need some work. Course is way too bumpy. Seemed like every second or two we hit a bone jarring bump while driving the course. Would play again if I could get the hot deal price but this place isn't worth the full price they charge.
Conditions are improving
This course is getting better, the fairways have few dead spots and the greens are in pretty good condition. Not a bad value if you can get a good deal through golf now. But, the tall grass in between holes will gobble up balls quickly, so you better keep it straight.
This was moderately challenging course
The course has not been maintained and the fairways and roughs have multiple drainage swalls that make for very uncomfortable riding throughout. Every 10 feet there is a swail and unsure if this was meant to be there or just from no maintenance.
Bumpy Ride
Course is over all in decent condition. Grass is nice and green. There is a lot of tall grasses between all the holes so if you miss left or right you will lose your ball almost every time which is really the only part that makes it challenging. The worst part about this course is the ditches ever 20 yards over the whole course. Almost unbearable to drive the cart. It looks like they put in drain lines or irrigation lines all over and then all the ditches settled and now its like running over inverted speed bumps literally every 20 yards. Bad enough to make me not want to go back there. but the location makes me go back just out of convenience then the first hole i remember why i shouldn't come back
36 holes! Good value!
Very wide and open fairways, but if you go off you're in tall grass. Greens are not very fast but not slow either. Very good bunkers and very well maintained overall. Good length and and they have 2 full 18 hole courses so you can go frequently and not get bored. On some holes, (I noticed it more on course A) they have these shallow trenches that run across the fairway. They're not big, only a few inches deep and a foot or two wide and they aren't bald or anything, they are just a little uncomfortable to ride over. Then only downside of Seneca and it's not enough to keep me away! Overall great experience
long
Needs upkeep rough too high fairways bumpy. Too many walkers holding up course.
They currently have 36 holes and A & a B course I played the A course.
The back nine is being closed and the course will have 27 holes (3 9 hole tracks). Both the front and back had ruts every 10 to 15 yards that ran the width of the fairways. The golf cart needed to be slowed to a crawl to traverse them. I suggest wearing a kidney belt to avoid the jarring OR you might want to make a game of it and try to avoid them like you were in a mine field of WWII... In fairness to the new owners they are making improvements to a 36 hole course that has been neglected for some time. They will get the 27 holes back to a playable condition with some TLC and hard work!
Can't give 0 stars!
When we got there the staff started us on A then moved us to B course and then back to B course. The grounds are horrible there are large holes in the middle of fairways and trenches cutting across fairways. One tee box appears as though it is in the middle of a construction site with mounds of dirt and debris on either side of you. The layout is very confusing at one point we were mixed up between holes 9A and 9B after wasting time looking for the tee box my playing partner and I both took par for that hole and skipped it. Several hills on the course causing you to hit blindly and then search for your shot, or inadvertently hit into another group.
Great Greens
The fairway is like a washboard with drainage depressions every 20 yards, otherwise the course is in good condition. The roughs are fairly short and the ornamental grass is out of play.
Course is very walkable.
Wide fairways. Heavy rough. Long
Fairways are wide, but if you miss you may not find your ball in the deep rough. Conditions were good even after heavy rain the preceding week.
Back to Yesteryear
I hadn't played here for 30 years and took my big-hitting son to Seneca B on a Sunday afternoon. The course wasn't crowded and we made our way around rapidly. The course is not long by modern standards (except for a few par fours on the back nine). The premium is hitting the fairways and the smallish greens. Stay out of the wispy grass or you'll give up a lot of strokes. Obviously some folks gave up balls, too, since we found almost two dozen. A nice course that requires accuracy and precise club selection. Worth a try.
Greens in good condition just very slow
The course was in decent condition, greens are really slow, not much break and not very consistent. The worse thing about the course is the high grass that surrounds all the fairways so if you hit a bad shot it is nearly impossible to find it, also the course is poorly marked for yardage. Besides that its not too bad of a course and I would golf there again
Enjoyed links style
Nice public course. First time there and would enjoy playing the A course also.
