Greens in bad shape
Great course layout and staff is friendly. Greens in rough shape....i have never seen them this bad.
Excellent greens
Not sure whats the fuzz but this course is in excellent shape
Downhill
This course used to be spectacular. Not anymore. You can tell they are putting very little money into it. I am not sure they even have a grounds crew, but you would think someone could fill the ball washers with water. Everyone was empty. Greens with crap in them, someone could have blown them off. I’m sure it’s not the staffs fault. Not sure ownership is committed to this course. They also have a really nice bar area about the pro shop that you could sit and enjoy an after round beverage. No more, they are not utilizing it. Huge waste by them
Avoid
Just don’t go unless you have no choice. Fairways were flooded, greens had sticks and branches everywhere, nothing rolled - it only bounced. Add in the overgrown or almost non-existent sand traps and cart paths that disappeared into nothing or just mud, there’s better options. In fairness, no-one thought this place would still be open. Also the people at the clubhouse are friendly.
Okay Course but Needs Fixed Up
I’ve played Legend Lake a few times because it is just down the road from me. However, this course is declining. The tee boxes aren’t maintained well and the greens look diseased with bare spots and rough spots. They need to be ripped out and just reseeded badly. The pace is always pretty good and can be a fun course. All over the course could use some love. The cart paths are breaking apart and need done in sections. The rough areas are really rough with grass 8-10” high with so many dandelions and weeds. I’ve never lost so many balls just hitting into the rough. Grasses like this are usually out of bounds on other courses. The bunkers on every single hole are not maintained and are filled with weeds. They don’t even make an attempt at making them playable which is evident by the weeds and lack of rakes. If they don’t do something fast this will be closed within 3-5 years and that’s a shame. Overall, I don’t think it is worth the $50 paid today to play it.
Greens
Layout is good but the greens are in terrible condition.
Down hill
I always wanted to play a round here but I've been hearing it was a bad course and went down hill after it became public. Well those people who told me this didn't lie. The course was not great. I understand it's winter but the grass on the green felt like turf you buy from the home depot. It was patchy. No markers on the tee box no idea what hole I was on either. It was great that no one else was on the course cause I got to set out 8 balls and take time to just practice. Overall I wouldn't play here unless it was the only course in the area I can book a time.
Aeration of greens
The aeration of the greens made putting impossible. The grass/roughs seemed high/not cut recently.
Worst course I’ve ever been to
The course conditions are so bad this course wasn’t even worth the $16 I paid for a hot deal. The greens are literally unplayable and it was not because of recent aeration, the rough is unkept, fairways too long and the greens are not cut, rolled or edged. If I could give this place zero stars I would.
Legendarily bad greens
Lots of potential, but the course is clearly lacking funds to maintain it properly.
Not as expected
Have played this course many times through the years. Fairways were okay but the greens were very poor with some sort of growth throughout making putting virtually impossible. Hope they can improved for next time.
Terrible course management
Diseased unplayable greens, uncut tall rough and poorly attended tee boxes.
They should be ashamed of themselves for charging $40/pp for that trash course.
Definitely NOT worth $40/pp Course is in really rough shape.
Absolutely terrible course management. Rough is way to high, secondary rough is shorter than primary rough? And the tee boxes and greens are total trash!
The course management team should feel terrible about letting people play here.
the scumbag that runs this doesn’t care as long as he gets his paycheck this course and that whole company is a total embarrassment.
Cheap management, Cle.Golf properties own 4 courses. Legend Lake- cow pasture, Powderhorn- average at best, St. Denis is a fun track but currently in poor condition. Fowlers Mill is a Pete Dye design, outstanding layout, hampered by lack of spending some money on bunkers. overall the basic theme is management wants your $ but constantly run a mom & pop operations.
