Blue Heron Pines Golf Club
About
The Blue Heron Pines Golf Club consists of two award-winning courses called the East and the West. Located 15 minutes outside of Atlantic City, these public golf courses provide a challenging game and have been touted by many New Jersey publications as the best 18-hole course on the Jersey Shore.
Each golf course had a different designer so they do have some differences. The West Course is relatively flat with narrow fairways and fast greens. Water hazards also come into play on seven holes. The East Course on the other hand features wide fairways and difficult bunkers. The East Course also follows a links-style layout and is meant to be played fast and firm. For those who want to play the courses but aren't at the top of their game yet, the club offers golf instruction.

Major disappointment on trip to the shore
Upon booking, I had high hopes that this was going to be a solid course for the money based on previous reviews. Our group was disappointed to say the least. The course was in very poor condition. Fairways 7, 13, and 17 were basically dirt, and the bunkers throughout were rock hard. Greens were long and filled with goose $h!?. The rest of the course was spotty to say the least.
Layout was okay, but not worth the price of admission, especially considering how poor the conditions were. They really should shut this place down until they get it back in playable condition. I really wish we had played somewhere else.
The only redeeming aspects were that the facilities are clean and the staff was friendly.
Won’t be back until conditions improve
Course was in terrible shape, the worst I’ve ever played it in, and reading some of the reviews it sounds like it has been that way for most of the last month. Almost every bunker on the course was unplayable. Greens were slow, and fairways were brown and chewed up. Fortunately I got a Hot Deal tee time because I would have been very upset if I paid their normal greens fees. The course was packed on a Thursday so people are still showing up. Overheard staff mention that they won’t be closing to aerate because they’ve been getting so much play and don’t want to lose a few days of business - disappointing to hear given how they’ve pretty much lost the course and it needs the care- seems like this is the philosophy of most of Jaworski’s courses. I usually play here a few times a year but won’t be back until next season.
We did eat in the outdoor seating area after the round and the food and service was pretty good so that was a positive.
Tough day
Normally this course is five stars. Due to the amount of rain we’ve had lately the course is green and brown unfortunately.
I will definitely go back once things get a little under control.
The staff is always excellent, didn’t get to enjoy the amenities this time around but normally this place is an excellent experience for the money
Great layout
Loved the layout and settings at blue heron! Staff was professional and very active! Spotters were personable well organized and the pace was great! Post rain the bunkers had some water and fairways were a little spongey and soft but the course played great!
Disappointed
Heard good things was disappointed
Came 9am told half hour delay in teeing off not sure why
Shortage of carts
Fairways on tuff shape
Slow pace of play
Better options in area
Horrible conditions
I’ve played this course many times. Live 90 mins away. Always loved playing here. Great layout. Friendly staff. Awesome conditions. A little expensive but always worth it. NO MORE. Absolutely horrible conditions. Tee boxes chewed up. Fairways just totally not maintained. Bare spots everywhere. And that’s just not from recent storms! Bunkers were concrete. Greens were slow and most had bare spots scattered around. Total lack of maintenance. I understand the virus had it’s effect on business and they cut corners, but we paid almost $90.00 on a Tuesday morning. 5 hours later we finished and wanted half our money back. Staff still very friendly but what is Jaworski thinking that we all should pay WAY TOO MUCH MONEY to play this course. It was crowded, but how long can you live off past reputations and conditions??? It’ll be a LONG TIME before I come back, and it’ll take a lot of convincing from someone to get me to come back! LACK OF MAINTENANCE!!! Don’t expect me to pay for you not to spend money on this course. Ballamoor here I come!
Conditions were not up to par
It’s been a few years since I played this course. I remembered it to be a challenging course that’s was in very good condition. I must say I was disappointed in the conditions. The fairways were burned out and it was hard to find grass to hit from, especially on the back nine. It’s a fine course, if you want to get some swings in, but certainly not a destination course that it used to be.
Rough Shape
Been playing this course for years, and can’t unequivocally say it’s current condition is the worst I’ve ever seen. Certainly playable, but not up to the standard of excellence they typically meet, and their price requires. They get a little bit of a pass because the weather has been brutal, and first timers will love this lay out. But I’m accustomed to this course being one of the premier in the south jersey shore area. It was not.
Soggy conditions
I have played Blue Heron in the past under much better conditions. Unfortunately, the recent storm left the course in extremely soggy condition. All the sand traps were filled with water & I lost 3 golf balls in the deep water filled traps! The fairways were extremely soft & many balls plugged or got zero roll making the course play very long. Due to wet conditions, golf was cart path only making for a long round of golf. The layout of this course is excellent and the greens rolled very true. I feel that management should have offered a discount for the less than ideal conditions.
Course Conditions
The course was under water. I understand that they cannot control weather but they should have forewarned players that the casual water dominated the course. I estimate that over 90 % of the bunkers had standing water in them - and lots of it. My playing partner and I collective lost 5 balls in the water that was I t he sand traps!! The water was so deep and murky you could not even find a ball in a bunker!
Again, the staff should have either closed the course or warn players of the conditions before they begin their rounds. To charge full weekend rates for the course conditions today was BS
Blue Heron
Great course. Fairways and greens in great shape. Very good 1st time experience.
