Pickaway Country Club
About
Pickaway Country Club is known for its welcoming atmosphere and friendly staff. Jack Kidwell, a local architect who designed this course and many others in Central Ohio, utilized his familiarity with the terrain but still kept each golf course distinct. Pickaway has an interesting layout that will test your shot-making abilities and strategy with narrow fairways lined with trees and small, fast greens that are difficult to read. Water hazards come into play on five holes and there are nearly 50 bunkers strategically placed throughout. There is one particularly difficult par-5 hole that requires a 250-yard drive over a meandering creek. Although the golf course offers a fair amount of challenges, they are balanced by a number of wide-open fairways that have ample space.

Tee time issue
The staff was friendly, but forgot to block out the time that me and my brother had scheduled to golf through GolfNow. Our tee time was at 7:08 in the morning and they had a scramble starting at 9:15. When we arrived at the course to check in, the staff inside the club house just gave us funny looks and said “can we help you?” When my brother and I told them that we were there for our 7:08 tee time they seemed shocked. After looking into their system and confirming that we had in fact booked the tee time, they stated that they had made a mistake by not blocking out our tee time. They said that we could golf all the way up until when the scramble started, but when the scramble started we were instructed we had to get off the course. We had paid for 18 holes prior to arriving through the GolfNow app. So, now we were forced to play hurry up golf after driving almost an hour to get there. They tried to make it right by offering us a rain check for nine holes no matter how many we completed before the scramble started. So, sure enough we played at a very quick pace and still only made it to hole 14 before being forced off the course. When we went back into the clubhouse to get our rain checks the guy behind the counter ended up apologizing and took ownership of the mistake, but still had left a bad taste in our mouths. A week or two prior to this happening we golfed this same course for a scramble to help raise money for school band and had an enjoyable experience.
Hidden Gem
Well groomed, links style course that plays as tough as you choose depending on tee box selection. Would play again.
nice course
We played in the afternoon right after an outing. It wasn't busy so we got through 18 in 4 hrs. It had rained the previous day, so there were some wet spots. Greens weren't fast but rolled smooth. Fairways, we don't believe, hadn't been mowed so they were a little hairy. Lots of doglegs and some trees but the course from the white's was on the short side. There are a considerable amount of elevation changes, not alot of water but there's some out there. If you haven't played it, I would reccomend it.
Course in rough shape/Has gone down hill
The course was in really rough shape. I have played the course dozens of times over the last few years, but this was the first time so far this year. The course was in significantly worse shape than years past. The fairways were partially mowed on some holes (half cut much shorter than the other half), what should have been the first cut was 2-3 inches thick, and the rough was basically unplayable. One green (#8) looked like someone drove the wrong piece of equipment over it. The one positive was that most of the other greens were in decent shape. The cart paths continue to be virtually non existent and in terrible shape. Pace of play was tough, but on the weekend that’s expected.
Under Rated, Excellent value
Course was in pretty nice shape. Greens were true and challenging. Friendly staff, nice carts. Excellent value public course. I had a good time and will definitely be back soon.
Great Value-for me
Carts were in great shape. Course had a thick rough and fairways a little fluffy ,too.
Was able to use an App and locked in a GREAT $$.
Met two great folks to golf with
Pickaway was in great shape. The traps were playable. Greens were in great shape. This is a very pleasurable golf course.
Still early in the year but needs some work
They need to work on sand traps, cart paths, and all the trash that’s been thrown in the woods all along the course. They also need to cut down the 50+ dead trees all over the course. I get they are in a tough spot. Gotta have money to take care of all these things but charging 40-50 a round with these issues is not gonna get repeat play.
Great Environment
The staff were friendly and helpful. The course was beautiful.
Stole a day from winter in Febr
Played a day when Autumn came to February. Myself and good friend felt we had the course to ourselves on a sunny 65* little wind day in late February. The tee boxes were a little heavy and greens a little bouncy but hey it is February. They were definitely playable. This is a course you have to pay attention to which hole you are on and where the next hole is located. A lot of cross crossing and double tee, tee boxes. Having said all this, I really like the course and look forward to playing here.
Slow greens
Greens were super slow. Tee boxes no grass ,like a minefield, rough alot of deadpan ,and sparse grass ,ball always in a hole
