Pickaway Country Club
About
Pickaway Country Club is known for its welcoming atmosphere and friendly staff. Jack Kidwell, a local architect who designed this course and many others in Central Ohio, utilized his familiarity with the terrain but still kept each golf course distinct. Pickaway has an interesting layout that will test your shot-making abilities and strategy with narrow fairways lined with trees and small, fast greens that are difficult to read. Water hazards come into play on five holes and there are nearly 50 bunkers strategically placed throughout. There is one particularly difficult par-5 hole that requires a 250-yard drive over a meandering creek. Although the golf course offers a fair amount of challenges, they are balanced by a number of wide-open fairways that have ample space.

Possibly underrated
First time playing the course, and I came away very impressed. Some of the reviews on golf now were not favorable, and as a result my friend and I were both skeptical. I thought the course was in very good condition. It is not long but is well protected by lush rough. If you keep it in the fairway, you will have a nice round. The greens were in very good condition, although at least in my opinion, they were slow. I would definitely play it again, and would recommend it.
Love the layout.
Already talking about going back. Hopefully next time it won’t be raining.
Course is improving daily.
New Superintendent is doing a great job. I believe this is his first full season there and was at Lancaster before taking the position at PCC. He always had Lancaster in good shape and is quickly making his mark on Pickaway. Fairways were striped up nicely. Rough was mowed down and didn’t have any issues finding your ball. No dandelions anywhere so he’s been spraying his chemicals. Greens are rolling good. If you haven’t played it recently I would.
Excellent Course for the money !
Course is in the best shape I’ve seen in 5 years. Staff is friendly as always! Can’t beat it for the value.
Always worth the drive to play here
With the exception of the gravel cart paths, the traps could use a little more sand and possibly four dual tee boxes where you. Really have to pay attention to which hole you are playing; I would give 5 stars.
The weather was ideal a little on the cool side but not bad. The course was in great shape. Always a pleasure to play here…
Great day!
Shot birdies and pars, had a blast challenging enough to be hard but not to difficult to make it not fun. The people we’re friendly on the course and the staff was great
Bad Shape
This course has dropped off tremendously within the last year and a half. Tee boxes were not mowed and not level, bunkers are totally unplayable, the fairway is cut just as high as the rough on most holes. Keeping in mind I’m writing this review in early April but I’ve played other courses in the area that are in much better overall condition. Such a fun layout, and a nice bar area; but I wouldn’t play here again at full price..
Fall golf
Course was what we expected for October 30th; aerated greens, patchy fairways and tees, but only $20 for a Sunday morning round of 18. Fun little course, not too difficult but some challenging driving holes and a long par-3 to keep it interesting. Shot my average but probably lost some strokes on the sandy and aerated greens so maybe a little easier than other courses around the area.
Enjoyable!
This is a nice little course. The course is in good condition. Not a long course but well laid out. Super friendly staff. Will definitely play again when the leaves are not on the ground.
Always Pleasant Staff
I have only played this course a handful of times, but every time the staff, from pro shop, to cafe, to rangers have always treated me like a VIP. It really makes for a great day, especially on a better than average public course.
Nice cool first of autumn day
They are attempting to replace a number of tee boxes, so temporary tees are being utilized. Some fairways are in n need of additional grass. The greens are great. There are about 3 tee boxes that contain two holes worth of tees, which makes you have to think about which hole you are on. Don’t get cross crossed. The staff had us play off the back nine first, which was truly appreciated!!! Pace of play could not have been better. The course is in the process of improvements. A little disappointed because this is usually a true treasure of a course. They shared they are making improvements and we saw numerous folks on the course working on improvements.
Pickaway CC
Understand it's getting late in season and course trying to recover many tee boxes, but putting tee markers in 6 inches high grass or completely bare spots is not appealing for this course
