Brookledge Golf Club
About
Brookledge Golf Club sprawls across more than 120 acres of gently rolling hills and mature woodlands. The course is an Arthur Hills design and considered one of the finest public golf courses in northeast Ohio. Originally opened in 1988, the course later underwent a major renovation that included the installation of a new aeration system and the replacement of all the sand traps. The golf course is challenging with trees lining the fairways and framing the greens, leaving little room for error off the tees or on the approaches. The greens are subtly elevated and well protected by mounding and bunkers. Brookledge Golf Club's tricky putting surfaces have mild undulations that can cause subtle breaks in putts. Trees play a more prominent role on the back nine, especially on the closing holes.

Pretty good
Nice course. Would recommend. Greens were challenging. Play here 2 or 3 times a year.
Nice Muni Course
This is one of the Muni courses I've ever played. The track is in good shape. Not too difficult of a course. The wildlife at this place is great. I've probably seen 20 deer the last 2 times I've played there. I would recommend.
Brookledge Magnificent
Although the weather was overcast, the course was absolutely lush. Fairways are excellent, greens were fast and undulating and most pin placements were very challenging. For a "Muni" course, this place is awesome and on par with most country clubs I've played in the past. A must play for locals!!
Great morning round
Was first off the tee on a Saturday morning. Staff was mowing greens/changing holes as I was playing along, they were very good about letting me play up and then continuing their work. A few of the greens are a bit pockmarked from ballmarks not being repaired, but other than that this course is in beautiful shape.
Beautiful Day
It was a beautiful day and the course was in pretty good shape. The staff was very friendly. We were behind a group that was slightly slow on the front 9, but were able to make up some time on the back. It was a pretty good day!
Great Course, too slow
I played Brookledge with 3 of my buddies on an absolutely picture perfect Saturday. It was the first time i've played the course in 2015. The place is in the best shape i've ever seen it. And it will only get better once all the leaves return to the trees. From tee to green the course played fair. If you stay out of trouble you can score, but some of the bunkers are deep and unfriendly. The problem was the pace of play was very slow. I teed off right on time at 9:15am and did not finish up until 2:15. For a 5900 yard course (from the blue tees) 5 hours is just too long. The greens were very fast (extremely fast might be a better way to put it). The pins were set in tough spots and it seemed every group got stuck on the greens. The course was probably overbooked and that along with the toughness on the greens led to a very slow day.
Mathis course has great features
Being a younger golfer I often found rude staff that treats as inferior. The staff here could not have been nicer. The course well maintained with plenty of hills. Fairways are wide open which is nice for someone like me who has a bad slice to their swing. Overall best experience I've had golfing.
pace
Extremely slow play We scheduled for 18 only played 9 They were working on the greens of 1-9
Need a course ranger during a day like that
Love this course
Course is in excellent shape. Holes are very different and challenging. Played in less than 3 1/2 hours.
Great value for the money. A true Arthur Hills hidden gem....
Very scenic
The course was in really nice shape for September. The scenery around the course was beautiful. Tons of trees everywhere but if you hit the ball straight you're okay. Hole #3 is the easiest par 4 you'll ever play, 228 yds. (white) with little trouble. Employees very friendly. Can't imagine the beauty of this course in October but I will find out.
hidden gem
played this course for 1st time ,hidden gem in middle of city ,staff friendly also ,course in excellent condition, nice greens and traps
Course ok, staff arrogant, non congenial
The golf course was in good shape. Conditions were acceptable.
.
Staff was a different story. The course had a shot gun outing starting on holes 13-18 at 9:00 am on Sunday of a Holiday weekend. Unfortunately, this cannot be noted in the GolfNow reservation. We were informed upon arriving at the course (after our 1 hour drive to get there) that we would have to play behind the outing for the back portion. We play in the initial groups to avoid slow play and meet other family commitments. The "staff" pointed out that normal weekend rounds take 4.5-5 hours so "what was our hurry ?". The staff stated they were retired and stayed there longer to avoid their spouses/family. While that may be humorous to them, it caused us to be late for other commitments.
.
I would not recommend playing here if speed and staff accommodations are important values.
Very fun monster course!
We had a blast here. Very challenging with lots of elevation changes and hazards. Tough course for beginners, but fun for intermediates. Definitely recommend a trip to this course. Booked with golf now and saved a ton.
Great Course Condition, Excellent Staff
Visiting from California. New nothing about the area or the course. I was very pleased to find the course conditions in excellent condition and the staff truly and more importantly, genuinely friendly and professional. Great course. Bring a little course management, as things are not always what they appear at this track. Every club in my bag got a chance to be on full display while traversing this track. Great track for all skill levels. When I'm in the area again, I will be sure to drop in for another dose of Brookledge Golf Club
To slow, poor management.
In my opinion this course is all about money an it lowers the quality of play. There were way to many people on the course causing extreme slow play. It took three hours to play 9 holes with no leagues. There were no rangers watching the rate of play, this caused people to take excessive amounts of time to search for balls in long grass or woods.
I agree!! The pace on a summer Friday at noon was so slow that we literally walked off the course after 6 holes. RIDICULOUS!
Well Maintained
They put some money into this place a couple years ago and and have continued to maintain it's "playability." Even after all of the rain we've had the bunkers were in good shape, the course ran well, and the greens were difficult (on a few holes, which is how it's designed) but very fair. The ball typically rolled the way you think it should, which cannot be said for all courses!
Brookledge never on the same page with GolfNow
As has happened in the past, I always feel like I'm the first person to ever use a GolfNow tee time at this course. The staff rarely knows what to do when I tell them I have purchased the tee time online from GN. The starter tells me that i can't play 18 holes and yet I bought the tee time a week prior.
Very nice city course
You need a little knowledge of this course to play it well. #2 is a sharp dogleg left so unless you can hook the ball you need to tee off with something that can get you to about 180 yards. Similar knowledge needed on #13.
Excellent Shape
Pace of play was a little slow, but still was a fun round. Somewhat long, but a fun and fairly open course. Greens and fairways were in excellent shape.
Gonna NEED some Gimmies........
Course is in good shape and a pretty darn good value. Although they don't look all that tough the greens are going to ADD plenty of strokes making your round very frustrating. So play will some folks that don't mind a 3 foot gimmie every now and then :) Yes, I agree that's ridiculous but you may just need a few to keep your round within reason. I had MANY birdie putts that turned into Bogies in a hurry.
Outings are a fact of golf economics, courses need the revenue. Slow play is a pet peeve of mine also, however if you play golf regularly you must be prepared to encounter it. I have had groups behind me in a hurry because they had other commitments to hurry to, wanting to play thru. If you can not commit at least 5 hours of your time, I suggest that you do not attempt to play and instead play on a day when you have no other obligations. I hate 5 hour rounds but unfortunately they are becoming more common especially on weekends. Golf is a game to be enjoyed, not rushed thru because you have somewhere else to be.
