Hard Work Pays Off
The new ownership at the course is clearly putting a lot of time and money in to the club house, course, and driving range. The course and facilities look great! The greens rolled true and the fairways were cut well. Not sure if they have plugged the greens yet though. They were not holding at all. The course was very dry and the ball would ROLL and ROLL! Overall and good course with a lot of potential to be a great course! Oh yea, the FOOD IS EXCELLENT!!
Nice course at low cost
Very nice course with a very reasonable cost to play. It has some tough holes with very nice fairways and greens. Management and staff were very friendly. Carts were in very good condition. Would recommend this course for play.
Great place to play
The corse and the greens were in very good condition. The staff was very friendly and the food was pretty good. The only complaint I had was there was a foursome playing in front of us and would not let us play through. What could have been easily a 3 1/2 hr round ended up being 4 3/4 hrs. I will definitely be back there soon.
Good course for money
course was in good shape, and driving range has been upgraded nicely!
Deceivingly Mischievous
Looks much easier than it is....... I was bummed starting off because it looked as if all holes were pretty "straight" but they did an excellent job of working the land and making a fun, interesting track that stole about 10 strokes from me. Playing again I'd get back 5 no problem but getting my latter 5 back would take a few more rounds at this one. It's Deceivingly Mischievous". Suggestion: If you shoot in the 90's play the white tees, they look like those are the shorter ones but I think they really are the "Normal Whites", they have 4 sets so it's a bit confusing & we played the Blues thinking those were correct and to a man we all shot higher scores. Anything is possible but I doubt we ALL had bad days. So play the WHITES and enjoy your round.
Good Course, Great Value, Friendly Staff
This is out in the country and is actually a fairly well maintained course. The greens were nice, although a little slow, and the fairways were nicely mowed. The rough was challenging, but not ridiculous. There are a few rough spots on the tee boxes, but many high end courses I've played this year also had rough spots, as well. Yes, the cart paths are gravel and need a little work, but the course allows you to drive your cart just about everywhere (even on the long par 3's) so that makes for a faster and more enjoyable round. The staff was very friendly and they truly appreciated you visiting their course. It's worth a visit. Great value.
Nice course with new owner putting a lot into it.
They are putting a lot of work into this course and it is usually a quick pace.
Greens were in great shape.
Always liked the layout, greens well kept, tho area around greens need some attention along with tee boxes. Under new managagement, I believe their heading in the right direction.
very challenging for beginners
Both of us are new at golf this season and booking with GolfNow gives us good opportunities for attempting courses we would tend to shy away from. Everyone playing when we were there remarked that the course was challenging. We were a bit confused by the direction given as to where the first tee was and found we were playng the back nine first....we were not the only ones new to the course to do so.
Great place!
It was so great,I I went two days in a row! I can't wait to go back!!
Nothing to see here..... move along
Apparently they are under new ownership and I am not impressed. The course conditions were quite a bit below standard. Lots of dirt patches, ruts, and terrible ground conditions in general. If you are playing by the rules you obviously have to play it as it lies, and it's very difficult to get a decent lie even in the fairway. The least they could do is take one can of spray paint and mark a bunch of places on the course GIR. How long would that take, a few hours? At least then you could take some relief.
The greens were in good shape but slow.
We won't be coming back until we hear differently.
Review of Hemlock Springs
The course itself is well maintained. It was very buggy (insects). Cart paths were in horrible condition.
Good course but needs paved cart paths .
Course needs paved paths an d cleaner carts . Otherwise , good course .
Nice course and well maintained.
Play this course a few times a year. Course was in great condition. Play this course if you haven't yet. Middle to low handicappers still have to play well to score good here. Staff is friendly.
Best value out there
Played there yesterday and really enjoyed it. They're doing alot of improving on tee boxes and cart paths which will make it even better. The greens were in great shape as were the fairways. The staff was great and the food was much better than most courses. I will definitely be back!
One of my favorite courses
A nice course in the country. Greens are in great shape and the rest of the course is well maintained.
Under New Management
The course is in good shape and played well, and for $20 you can't beat it! But the course is definately under new management and you can tell. Everything seemed a little helter skelter and unorganized, which probably played into the 5 hour round that we played. That and the cart paths were a mess...I actually drove on the grass most of the time because you couldn't drive on the cart path.
Good course for all levels
Like the course which is under new management. Cart paths need work. They claim its do to weather. They have plans to repair.
Course is good shape..cart paths atrocious
Let me start of by saying that the course is in good shape and as bad as the cart paths are (they are BRUTAL) it appears that they are doing something to fix them. First, the course...cool layout...no 2 holes are the same...I enjoyed playing at Hemlock and would come back. Greens are average to above average. Fairways were starting to get long but we've had a lot of rain and they probably are having trouble cutting them because its so soggy. Cart paths are not paved. Its just a muddy (VERY MUDDY in spots) track. Im hoping they are going to at least put gravel in the paths because then my opinion would be different. Other issue I have is the tee boxes. There are 2 sets of tees on every hole. They'll double up on one set on each hole. (example: One hole will have Blue and White share on tee and red stand alone...next tee will have red and white share and blue will stand alone. Some holes though just had red and blue tees. (where did the white tees go???) So we did our best to try and figure out what to do on a couple holes. All in all its a cool course and I would play it again...hopefully they get the cart paths taken care of and maybe some more tee markers to identify where you're supposed to tee off from.
not as good as it used to be
New ownership and looks like they are working on improving the cartpath in places, but it didn't look like the grass had been cut in over a week. Dandelion heads/seeds everywhere. The rough was so high, we couldn't find or balls ever though we knew the approximate area to look. Don't think I'll go back until later in the year to see if things have improved.
